Just HAD to share this snippet from Major Raikov's article on wikipedia...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ivan_Raidenovitch_Raikov When written out in katakana, Raikov's patronymic, Raidenovitch, is read as "Raiden no bitch", which essentially translates to "thunderbolt's bitch", and when put into to further Japanese grammer and context, it essentially mean "Raiden is a bitch" (In many anime, a female character may call someone an idiot "xxx" with the words: "(xxx) no baka"). Colonel Volgin is called "Thunderbolt" in the west. In Russian, "Raidenovitch" merely means "Son of Raiden".
