Catching up

This week has been crazy, but I managed to get quite a few things accomplished.
The photographs for work (black and whites of Maryland landmarks) finally came together. It took them too long to get the order processed, and so we ended up getting two sets of the photos for the price of one. We were able to discover through that that we definitely preferred one printer over the other printer, and we'll have to look into whether or not we can request a specific printer to do the jobs or not. I managed to figure out how to operate the mat cutter without any major glitches, and got all the mats cut. The cream color turned out nice, and gave the photos a hint of antique to them, which was not a bad thing. We got up really early to run them up to the office and get them hung since the open house shindig was that afternoon. As I suspected the cream color worked well against the color of the office walls.
We hurried back (after a temorary Rhino won't start scare, J says its not a battery problem, and so now I just have to stick it out and try to start it a few times waiting a few minutes between starts if I can next time it happens) and got back in time to be ready for the Day of Service volunteer group that was coming to the center. They were coming through a program put on through the churches county and city wide. They had more than 50 projects, and 1500 volunteers working on all sorts of projects throughout the day. There were 18 volunteers, including some younger children that came to help us with a few projects. Unfortunately, the major project that I had planned was to paint a small barn that had been donated to us but with rain in the forecast, we couldn't do it since the paint required 24 hours to dry. It was a bit depressing because the weather turned out perfect for it, and we just couldn't do it!
So I got busy finding other projects instead. They managed to get two fence posts replaced, replaced a few boards, checked all the perimeter fences, reloaded the sawdust in all the stalls, muck out all three run-in sheds, and weed the entire arena. I was really thrilled with all the work that got done, and everyone was so nice. Many people even said that if we planned to do the barn at some other time they would be happy to come back and help us out.
I got a big kick out of one of the women, she just kept asking me what could be cleaned. The funny part about that is she started with the parking lot saying that some of the kids could clean up the parking lot. I said, what do you mean? because in my view the parking lot was reasonably clena as it was, there was no trash in it, I thought it was looking just fine. She says, we can clean up all these rocks and things. My next thought was, Lady, if you clean up all the rocks we're not going to have a parking lot! I told her no, I had other projects that needed to be done. She followed me down behind the barn, and then asked if they could clean behind the barn. Again, I said no, she couldn't take away the rocks behind the barn, they were just fine there. So I grabbed a wheelbarrow and a bunch of muck forks and put her to work cleaning the run-in sheds. If she wanted to clean, by george I'd better give her something to clean!
I was exhausted by the afternoon, but was very satisfied with the work that got done.
Today we've spent having a bit of a heart to heart talk, and then getting work done around the house. Things had gotten really behind in the house, and it was really frustrating me. I was really happy that he was able to stay in the house yesterday and get some things done to help catch up.
We've also made arrangements to go to Charm City Fetish fair next weekend, however, I still have yet to receive my info after paying for the ticket. Hopefully they'll get back to me soon. Who else is going?
