So the plant was scheduled to do an inventory tomorrow. A small one, although it would still have required a long day of everyone (6:30am to whenever we finished, probably 5-6pm). At least it was to be on a Friday this time instead of a Saturday. However...
They just postponed it. I'm not clear on the reasons, although I think it just had to do with some key people who were suddenly having availability problems (mostly during the week after the inventory when they need to be around to process the results).
Actually, I wasn't really too miffed about this particular inventory to begin with. It was happening on a Friday, and was pretty much guaranteed to be done the same day. I was once again slated to be strictly tech support (i.e., not help with the counting), so my part would basically be to sit around at my desk doing my normal day's work until such time as I was needed to address a problem or help someone crunch some data. And my part in the preparations was pretty straightforward (prepare the data, prepare and print the counting worksheets...). Nothing really to complain about. Actually, I'm kinda disappointed that they postponed it. I would've preferred to just get it over with, especially since I spent some of last week and most of this week preparing for it. ;-) *shrug* I hear they're probably going to move it to another Friday in April, so it'll basically be the same deal. Honestly, I'm mostly indifferent on the whole about it now (a big shift from the rage I felt about these things a year ago when they took a whole freakin' Saturday ;-) ). Oh well, I should probably just enjoy the fact that I'll now have an unexpectedly normal weekend. ;-)
