Summary: Draco saves Malfoy from his worst nightmare

Ron screamed in a very manly manner as he saw the tiny brown spider scuttle across the counter and over the top of his unfinished sandwich; it stopped in the middle of the tomato seemingly undecided as to where to head next. Looking quickly around, Ron grabbed the other slice of bread and slammed it down on top of the first one, plastering the spider between the red vegetable and the white bread. To make sure the spider didn’t get out, Ron grabbed a ceramic bowl and it put upside down on top of the sandwich, effectively covering it from his sight. He waited a minute. Nothing.

Frowning, Ron realized he was still hungry but he didn’t want to risk any more surprise spider attacks. Moving determinedly to the hall closet, he opened it and looked around for a weapon. He saw a golf club and a baseball bat, neither of which belong to him but to Harry, next to his Cleansweep. Ron made a grab for the golf club but then decided the baseball bat would make a better weapon. Just as he was reaching for it he heard the sound of Apparation in the living room. The ‘pop’ startled him, and he turned around too quickly, the grasp on the bat loosening.

“Weasley,” drawled Draco, taking note of Ron’s bedraggled appearance while making ridiculous attempts at catching a Muggle torture weapon. Idly, Draco wondered how Weasley was ever keeper for the Gryffindor team.

“Malfoy!” Ron squeaked, futilely trying to hide the baseball bat behind his back.

“I know we’re still testing out this friendship, Weasley, but you don’t have to brandish a Muggle weapon at me. We could just ask to change Auror partners.”

“I wasn’t! You just startled me.” he growled. Draco raised a brow in challenge.

“Iwasgoingtokillaspiderthatcrawledintomylunch!” Ron mumbled. Draco laughed.

“Are you not a wizard, Weasley? You could have vanished it. Here I’ll do it for you,” moving towards the kitchen.

“My hero!” Ron sighed sarcastically.

“I was also going to invite you for a cuppa and lunch,” Draco trailed off.

“Well, what are you waiting for? The spider is under the ceramic bowl. I’ll grab my cloak,” Ron quickly said, enthusiastic at the promise of food.
