I'm sure that our alturistic Russian is not about to put personal glory and happiness above Saving the World. As soon as he can figure out how to get back to his real life, he will. He's probably already decided to let the accident happen so his life does not actually change, but is conflicted about Sasha dying on her way to be with him. Fortunately, Napoleon is already in the process of retrieving him via the Time Tunnel, so Illya won't actually have to have an accident and consequently his wife won't die, but he will disappear in that time (she'll blame the KGB, marry again and live happily ever after with her new husband, 3 children and 8 grand-children) and Napoleon will console Illya (repeatedly and very thoroughly, to their mutual and very great satisfaction) in our reality. :-)

Ah, an ending that satisfies everyone, at least as far as the happy ending.

I really wish I'd watch the show Time Tunnel now...

I loved the Time Tunnel when I was a kid! I thought James Darren was really cute. The ep when they ended up on the Titanic was excellent. If they'd gone down to the radio room, they'd have bumped into DMc because he was definitely there in "A Night To Remember". See...

Despite the story, I really *do* find the idea of a Napoleon without Illya or Illya without Napoleon very sad myself...

Another possibility is that they wont't be apart *too* long--that they could get the machine fixed and straighten it out, or Illya could allow things to happen as they did before and things would eventually work out... maybe...
