I notice things have been pretty quiet around here lately, so I thought I'd liven things up by digging into my TMFU screencap collection. First up, "The Vulcan Affair".
It starts of with THRUSH invading U.N.C.L.E.'s secret headquarters - and how typical it is that THRUSH knows U.N.C.L.E.'s secret headquarters already by the first episode!
Naturally they're defeated, and so we meet Napoleon and Illya (and Mr Waverly) for the first time:
This is the last we'll see of Illya this episode, so to make the most of it:
Anyway, Napoleon gets the bright idea of using one of the villain's ex-girlfriends as bait (she's now living a quiet life as a suburban housewife):
Cue Napoleon giving the hard sell.
The plot involves Napoleon taking the Innocent to the villain's fancy shindig, dressed up as a oil-millionaire's widow. Me, I have only eyes for Napoleon in a tuxedo.
Someone waylays Napoleon on the way home, and he winds up having to give our heroine another pep talk.
(Incidentally, I love Napoleon's expression in that picture of him with an ice pack on his head!)
Back at Vulcan's lair factory. Napoleon and the Innocent give him the runaround, but they wind up captured anyway. There's a lovely noir-ish quality to some of these shots.
Napoleon and the Innocent are tied up and left hanging around (to be steamed to death). In later episodes this is more likely to be Illya's fate.
But they managed to break free...
And Napoleon sets off to foil the villain's plot (which has something to do with THRUSH taking over a newly-independent African nation.
He sees the Innocent home to her dull, suburban life...
And the episode concludes with him flirting with a stewardess - typical Napoleon!
