About those bad guys

It seemed to me that several of the episodes got really villain heavy, in that most of the attention went to them and not to the guys. First season seemed particularly bad, but it could also be that the guys weren't often together. However, that said, they had some really great villains in first season.

Captain Shark - which has nothing to do with my obsessive love for Robert Culp, of course. :P

Oh yeah. Love him, love that episode because of him.

I don't think of him as a villain, though.

Yes, I see him as more of a tragic anti-hero.

Agree entirely - which is what makes him far more interesting than many villains (and many innocents, for that matter). He was a good one.

Plus his relationship with Morgan was very well done, especially their final scene where they salute each other. Shark was one of the best written "villains" on the show.

Good call. I liked him quite a lot with his desperation to save humanity. He was so much more fragile than diabolical. Probably a truer and more sophisticated depiction of a villain than we ever see these days.

He had a vision, but it had gotten scrambled. I felt badly for him as he truly wanted mankind to survive.

There was some very good relationship writing in that episode. Shark and Morgan's dedication to each other, Napoleon and Illya having drinks together, Illya taking a beating for Napoleon.

I think there was a strong parallel between Morgan and Shark and Napoleon and Illya. Both would do whatever was necessary for the other.
