outwit, outplay, outlast
on a recent visit to the cathay cineplexes (and it's carpark), i made a rather brilliant observation. the exit to the carpark is on kirk terrace... which puts it *behind* my most hated erp gantry. i rubbed my hands with glee with the realisation that i have just avoided giving the government another dollar and filed this important nugget of information for future reference.
a smile crept across my face yesterday as i was leaving plaza singapura and heading in the city hall direction. i could head into the cathay carpark, drive straight out while it was still in the grace period and avoid having to pay the 1 dollar erp!
i went into the carpark and headed straight for the exit. the erp unit beeps and the exit barrier lifts... wtf! no grace period! what could have been a 1 dollar erp charge becomes a roundabout drive in a carpark and a... 1.07 parking fee. damn you gst :(
when they say the government has pretty much figured out every available route with their erp pricing. they aren't kidding at all.
