So I had some time to kill before class and was watching Cold Pizza, and they were talking about the top 5 sports weekends of the year, and so here mine
5) ALCS and NLCS week. I would say World Series, but I don't think anything is better than the Redsox-Yankees rivalry in all of sports right now. And thats where it seems to be headed again for this year. (National league, shmational league)
4) NFL Divisional Playoff weekend. Two awesome games on Saturday (including a prime time game) and two awesome games on sunday. This is the weekend you can finally make an accurate pick on who will probably win it all. No, its not the Superbowl, or even the conference championship, but hey, its great football...even greater if your starting QB has never lost a playoff game in his life
3) Bowl Week. Arguments are started and put to rest and conferences battle it out in a sweet mess of college football. Hopefully the arguments started are complex enough to last thru september, so you have something to talk about. This Week should dramatically improve if Urban Meyer is your headcoach.
2) Football starts again! It was rare, but this past year was one of the greatest football weekends ever. The first homegame at the Swamp on Saturday, and the NFL kicks off on sunday. There is nothing better when the vast sports wasteland of summer is over (no offense, baseball) and college and pros kick into high gear
1) March Madness. Its the greatest spectacle in sports, for its length, its intensity, the quality of games, and well...overall madness. 64 teams battiling it out in a course of 3 weeks. Teams like Gonzaga and UNLV shock major powerhouses and sneak into the Final Four, as well as little things, like Florida beating Duke in the sweet 16 in the 2000 edition. (take that, russell!) Its amazing to watch, from opening weekend, to the national championship game.
Others recieving Votes: NBA Finals (i love this, this would be an easy number 6), Florida-Georgia game (although im obviously biased) Major League all star weekend (its always nice to see Piazza sell out that horrible ass, Clemens) Superbowl Sunday (obvious choice, but its only one game, and usually not enjoyable to watch unless you are a pats fan)
