obligatory election post

I wrote a live journal entry on May 21st regarding my thoughts of the upcoming election which we recently witnessed.

"Why does it seem that both parties are moving farther and farther away from the center. I mean, I tend to have a leftward leaning, but surely I agree with my friends on the Right on some sensible issues.
...and why do I have a feeling that the Democrats days are numbered, and that this election will not be close, and Bush is going to win in a landslide?
...and why doesn't anyone on the Kerry campaign realize that they need to DISTANCE their candidate from Howard Dean, not do photo ops with him.
The writing on the wall doesn't look to pretty. Davis getting replaced by Arnold in Cali. the Dems losing Congress in the 2002 elections. And a poll conducted in Summer 2003 which stated, "The Democratic Party is hurt by current perceptions that Democrats stand for big government, want to raise taxes too high, are too liberal, and are beholden to special interest groups. Half a century ago a near majority of voters identified themselves as part of the Democratic Party. Today that number has declined to roughly one-third." (taken from Zell Millers book) And so what do the Dems do? they nominate a candidate from one of the most liberal states of the union! Sure, Mondale and Dukakis won 10 states combined in 1984 and 1988, but the third time is the charm, right???
People blame Nader for costing Gore the 2000 election. And he probably did. But its also important to remember that Gore lost his home state, which seems to me to signify a larger problem the Dems have. Had he won it, the whole Nader thing wouldnt even be an issue, Gore would be working on his reelection campaign. "

True, Bush certainly didnt win the election in a landslide, but I think everything else seemed right on.
so here is my massive ego. It likes to be petted, yes it does. yes It does.....whos the good little ego? who is it? who is it? its yoooou, yes it is!
