The past three weekends have been crazy. Crazy fun. But I'll just update you on my past weekend.
4:45 am, I wake up and drive to Jacksonville International Airport ( only 154 days till the Superbowl!) I'm so tired that I try to get my USAir boarding passes from the Continental Kiosk. Embarrasment ensued.
It's funny how we are reminded of 9/11. There is a new federal law for any flight arriving into Reagan National Airport in Washington D.C. (where I had to catch my connection) The captain announced that for the final 30 minutes before landing, no passenger can get up out of their seat, or the flight will immediately be rerouted and/or Jets scrambled. Definitely a strange feeling, it made me think of the times we are living in. Under no circumstances should we ever believe that Terrorism doesn't pose a very real threat to us, but we need to learn how to live our lives. We can't reroute a plane to Norfolk Virginia because someone has to go to the bathroom.
Ok, sorry for that tangent. I arrived in Hartford, and went out to Lunch with Slavin and Julia. Following a nice turkey sub, I begged them to let me stop at a video game store so I could purchase my copy of NCAA Football 2005 cause those jerks at Target didn't have it cause they hate America. So I got the game, Slavin and I hung out, and then Bohn came down from Mass and we went over to see Jess and Eliza.
We got to Jess's BEAUTIFUL beach house at around 6 pm and started enjoying some beverages shortly afterwards. It was wonderful seeing Eliza again. She is really one of my dearest, deepest, bestest friends, and we havn't seen each other in TWO YEARS! We've changed a lot in the past 2 years and so much has happened in our lives, and we are two completely different people, but we are still as close as ever. I didn't realize how much I missed her till I got to finally see her.
Anyways, Friday night was really fun. Lexi arrived, as did Ike and AB and it turned out to be one of the nicest nights I've had in a long time. I woke up early...7 AM and everyone else was still sleeping. I walked around the beach town of Milford CT, saying hello to friendly locals, fantasizing that I was some self made millionare who retired at the age of 25 and bought a beautiful ocean home. Finally, Slavin, bohn, AB and I left the house at around 9 am for reasons not worth going into. We ate breakfast at a Diner, swam at Slavins house, showered, and watched a Mature Movie.(that sounds a lot better than sleazy porno) At around 2PM, we met back up with the Gang and took the train into NYC. Greatest city ever. Eliza lives there, and I hung out with her and felt like a typical new york resident. I rode the subway, argued with a taxi driver over a route, and even gave directions to someone. (Ok, well Eliza did most of the latter two, but hey, I backed her up with some pretty powerful nods) We went to see our friend Reuben play at the Knitting Factory, a club in SoHo. After the show, we walked back to their apartment, which for a NYC apartment, was REALLY nice. They had 5 roomates and the rent is 4,100 a month. Good Gracious. We finally made it back to CT at around 2 am, where I slept (finally) in a nice Bed and woke up at 12:30.
Well, here I am back at home. I left a lot of fun detail out of the weekend to spare all of you (and a hearty congratulations if you have read this far). THis weekend though, was the undisputed hi lite of the summer.
Also, I am house sitting for the Sandlers who are in England. And I miss Jenna dearly. But it's all gravy cause She is coming home soon! Oh well, I'll just have to sniff her bed and all her pictures for now.....er...actually, scratch that last part. Well, that it. Hope everything is going fine for everyone
