30 YEARS OF CEREBUS
So there was this project I got wind of through Donna Barr; she e-mailed me about the "Dave Sim Celebrity Roast, celebrating 30 years of Cerebus."
Basically, creators would create small 1-4 page comic stories roasting Dave Sim and celebrating the long-lived fantasy series Cerebus and the comic proceeds would all go to benefit the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
So my buddy kyohazard and I got together, I threw together a script, he provided art magic, and voila! We had our one-page gag using my tried-and-true little Canadian webhero, Diaperman.
Regrettably, although Kyle and I busted our butts to get this thing in under deadline, after sending it off last night I received this reply:
"...Unfortunately, the Roast project was cencelled. After informing Dave of the project, he became very uncomfortable with the whole thing. So much so, that the project ended before it began."
Well, suck.
But never let effort go to waste! So therefore, I present to you all the Page That Would Have Been. Congratulations on thirty years of Cerebus, Dave Sim...you uncomfortable bastard.
