It's getting close to the end. Soon we'll have the last issue in our hands, and we'll know who survived and who didn't, and in what condition. I have my own opinions on who's likely to be a casualty of "The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny", but I thought it'd be fun to see what the rest of the community has to say about the ending.

Feel free to message me from the LJ. I'm super welcome to answering specific questions. Sorry to sound so technical. I'm tried to make it sound not so tech speak/medical jargony.
The basics and anatomy, terminology, etc...

From a standpoint of prior observation and looking at a lot of stills of Havoc's wounds in chapter 38 the major damage to the cord occurs somewhere between T-10 or 11 and L-1. The description of his injuries would classify him as ASIA A...

Incidentally, Dr. Wise Young IS the MAN. As a researcher and a person. The above link is THE best article to get you started.
Injuries are classified by "Sensory Level" and "Neurological Level". The Neurological level is the point of injury. The Sensory level is the level of function that corresponds with the nerve damage. Just because he was injured in the lower back doesn't mean he cannot feel there... an injury at T-11 would most likely affect some abdominal and trunk control but the majority of loss of sensation would be

This is just a start and it is close to my bedtime... ok, so Agent Booth may have something to do with it. Mmmm... BONES.
I'll be adding more links if you like on my LJ. Feel free to add me. I'll be tracking down more links as well.

Havoc's injuries would be most comparable to stab wounds. Additional damage could be caused by fractured bone and swelling. Lust REALLY did a number on him. He'd likely also have internal bleeding and injuries. He's lucky he didn't die of sepsis. Thank goodness for steam punk, right? I did fudge some of the technology. If Ed's automail can exist, well... so does titanium... and some surgery and GD it... antibiotics. (Since he lived long enough to get to the hospital. SCI treatment really improved after WWII.)
The first few chapters of WIP go quite "in depth" to what I posit the injuries illustrated by Arakawa would have been like.
Movies and Media:
"The Waterdance"- SCI rehab
"The Men" - Post WWII hospital on an SCI ward
"Passion Fish" - female paraplegic
"Coming Home" Post Vietnam

Depending on the extent of the damage loss of sensation/twilight sensation would begin around the navel. It's entirely possible that he'd have some sensation all the way to the hip flexors. (Or lower if you make the injury incomplete. He would still be considerably compromised and sensation in his legs would be limited to non-existent. (e.g. pressure but not pain or hot or cold in the thighs with little to nothing from the knees down.)

Good point about the GI bleed and internal injuries from the stab too - I was thinking the same thing.
On a side note, I've been having so much fun with steampunk car modifications. I imagined Rush Valley would have quite the side industry in steampunky assistive technology ... which would all cost a bomb.
And congratulations on making the archive! That's so cool, and from what I can see very well-deserved.
