Heh--Roy and Gracia got stuck using that old code because it was the only way she knew to pass him a message without using plain speech or trusting someone else to code it. Roy and Maes made up that silly, salacious code when they were cadets, and Maes shared it with Gracia. She's not really part of Roy's mission or one of his staff, she's just someone Roy's people trusted to not ask too many questions, pass along the message, and then get out of town with her daughter while the getting's good.

I'm glad Fury and Roy came across clearly! Roy will be stretching his brain to convince the Ishvarun to trust him regarding alchemy, or anything else, for that matter. Scar will have more impact on that than he perhaps realizes--or likes.

Scar's alchemy has bugged me for a long time. He transmutes one-handed. Not even Ed can do that. Nor did Scar have any training whatsoever in alchemy before he did it the first time. It's also bugged me that he has that catastrophic scar that engulfs both of his eyes (and eyebrows, for that matter), yet doesn't show any signs of damage to his vision. The theory that he saw the Gate grew from that.
