So another week has gone by....
I don’t really have anything really exciting or insightful to say I guess. It was just another week. Lea is still VERY pregnant, Work is still VERY behind and I am not really feeling any different now than I did a week ago.
Some good news…
We are hiring 20 people (waiting until ink is dry to count my chickens) at work to help with our volume. This will increase the size of our group by about 50% and is a much needed event. This is also very necessary because in the past year, out work volume has increased by nearly 300% and we have increased our headcount by about 3 people (think 10%). We are fabulously good at our jobs (my co manager and myself lol) and we have found many efficiency improvements to boost production. We have been asking for more people but until recently our requests have fallen on deaf ears. (I will not bore people with the intricacies of what I actually do for a living…)
Fall is here and with it comes the ability to not have to cut my grass as much. Not sure if this is actually a good thing or not since cutting my grass is like a weekly meditation for me since it requires little to no brain activity and a great deal of physical effort (read: front hill is more than 60% grade in some places). I shall miss the “veg” time but not the back pain.
Work got me a new laptop. I like it very much. It has been very useful and handy and I enjoy both it’s speed and portability. My previous computer was a PC and so I felt a bit on edge about work when it was happening and I was not there. Now I do not and this makes me breathe more slowly. Just knowing that I could do things to actually help instead of telling people what needs to be done over the phone gives me a measure of comfort. Call me a control freak but that is the way it is.
I am completely ready for the new baby to come whenever it wants to get here…. emotionally speaking. I could not have said that at the time Gabriel was born although having my first child was a wonderful experience for me in a lot of ways. The new baby and the challenges are not “old hat” but they are familiar territory so I also feel competent in a way I did not before.
Some middle of the road news….
Our roomies moved out this week. On the one hand I am happy for them and their new house and the fact that I get to COMPLETELY finish the remodel downstairs and use the space. Also I get to have my garage/workshop back giving me the ability to tinker again, but on the other hand….. I will miss the company (if occasional ;-) ). Good luck guys. Love you.
The bad news….
I don’t supposed there is really any “bad” news to report but it felt awkward to just and a good and middle without a bad. Call it LJ Fung Shui.
You might be able to say that until Oct15 money is a little tight because October is a bad month for bills every year for the past 3 years. We will have to come up with an evil plan for next year to avoid this without dipping into savings or 401Ks or selling things on eBay (not that these things happened this year so… Enh… Whatever…
So that’s about it.
One of my friends posted a comment about Oatmeal Raisin Cookie dough ice cream from the best ice cream shop ever and now I am thinking of my seasonal favorite ice cream; Bruster’s Rum Raisin.
Off to see about making some since it is a few months out of production with them at this time…
