Second Season SG-1, Jensen Ackles, David Duchovny

Whew! Another season down.

The Serpent's Lair:

Again, this was just a good, humans vs aliens ep, an excellent continuation. My favorite part was knowing Daniel would rise from the dead (again) and the end when everyone has escaped and they think Daniel's dead but...of course he isn't ans the relief and love shining on the rest of the team's faces is too wonderful for words (and the Jack/Daniel hug!!).

The Gamekeeper:

OMG it would have been a good episode if it hadn't been so damn predictable. I feel like the writers felt they had to put the dream within a dream type ep into the show. I just couldn't enjoy it because I could have told you what would happen the entire rest of the ep after the first five minutes. Though the tall man in robes running was rather amusing.

Need:

Again, very predictable and not all that interesting. They just had to complicate the sarcaphogus for some reason and it just seemed a bit too rushed and not completed. However, the revelation that Jack at some point has been addicted to something (perhaps after his son's death?) and the comfort he gave Daniel at the end, and seeing Daniel break like that...that was very moving.

Thor's Chariot:

These Asgard eps are some of my favorites. I think it's because they are the "typical" aliens and I've always liked those kind, I guess. The test was interesting and the hall comments were quite amusing--and I loved Sam and Daniel of course recognizing the Asgard as the Roswell aliens. And of course, the ending when his "chariot" did appear? So cool.

Secrets:

Another fav of the season, I really liked seeing Daniel back with his wife. The actors do the portrayal so well, that the love really shines through. it was intense and while I figure it would be Ra's son coming rather than Apophis at first, it still kept an edge to the ep. Especially the end when she didn't turn them in. But how heartbreaking for Daniel to see his wife bearing the son of another man? *hugs Daniel* I just hope that isn't the last we see of the baby. I hate plot devices like that... But I also loved Cater and O'Neill off in DC, meeting her dad, and the reporter. Who was played by baby!Spender (Chris Owens). Ah, he makes such a good little sneak...but of course, just like baby!Spender, he has to die tragically. That was entirely predictable, but nice to see Jack's reaction. Poor guy.

Bane:

First off, can we rename the ep? How about, Metamorphosis? It seems much more applicable. This is an ep I'd once caught the beginning of way back when and man, those bugs still freak me out. *shudders* However, the little girl was just...wow. She was adorable and mouthy and brave. I loved her attitude when she got through to Jack on base. And the ending, OMG! I couldn't stop squealing for the adorableness for like, ten minutes. Teal'c brings her a huge water gun and then pulls one out himself...both of them feeling the need to get Daniel wet. Ah!! So cute. And I also love the NID vs SGC battles. "Request permission to beat the crap out of this man." Oh, Jack. ♥ And Maybourne's look of sheer terror. Hahahah...

The Tok'ra 1&2:

Again, slightly predictable with Martuff (and seriously, I just wanted to dress him up in 18th century clothing and have him live in France with that name (Tartuff, anyone?)), but in general, it was nice to meet the Tok'ra. And they did surprise me because I figured General Carter would say no to an alien, but it worked out well--I loved his and Selmack and the hosts banter. Very cute, but realistic. I also enjoyed the conversation between Martuff and Sam about Jolanare (sp totally), especially, "This must be what it feels like to be schizophrenic." Poor woman. lol

Spirits:

I loved the main "Native American" man, he was quite humorous and his constant happiness was even better. I was however, uncomfortable seeing the real form of the spirits because just looking at them made me feel like I couldn't breathe. I mean they looked like fish out of water. Very disconcerting. lol

Touchstone:

This has to be my favorite ep of the season, not so much because of the weather thing, but because of the NID vs SGC. I mean, this is the stuff XF is made out of, with covert ops, Hammond's own Deep Throat, and Jack vs Colonel Maybourne. It was fun and action-packed and I loved it.

The Fifth Race:

Again, Asgard ep. And finally!! We learn about the Ancients. Being the Atlantis fan, I've been wondering when we'd finally leanr about the Ancients for the first time. And they've also peaked my interest as to who the Ferlings are...But mainly, I loved Jack's meeting with the Asgard. It was amgical, just like it should be.

Holiday:

Okay, beyond the fact that I figured out the "musical chairs" solution the moment the change happened...it was good because Daniel not being Daniel was pretty damn funny. "We shall celebrate being strange...and feast on me". Hahah! And seeing Christopher Judge do something besides Teal'c...both odd and funny. I don't think he actually came across as the Colonel, but it was nice to see something besides the stoic (but good!) acting he usually does.

Show and Tell:

Finally, an invisible foe! And the kid actor who played Gibson Praise on XF. Which amused me because here too, he was special and able to see things no one else could. Beyond General carter/Selmack coming back and Charlie, it wasn't an impressive ep, but I was grateful in the end the Tok'ra took Charlie because all I could think about was Jack having to lose a second boy named Charlie who wanted to be his son. What would that have done to him?

1969:

OMG this ep just wins as the funniest of both seasons so far. Daniel responding in Russian when asked if they were Russian, Jack's "I'm Captain James T Kirk of the Enterprise", to his "I'm not really Kirk. I'm Skywalker. Luke Skywalker." and Teal'c with hair and in hippie clothing and baby!Hammond!! (who was actually pretty darn cute) Oh, man, for real. Their clothing. And the hippie bus. This ep pwns.

Out of Mind:

Yay for Hathor!! Seriously, I love her. The ep was again, fairly predictable (though I imagined a Gou'ald VR rather than "set"), but because Hathor was in it, I forgive them. I'm very interested to see where it's going to go, which Gou'ald will beat which. I think you can guess who I'm cheering for. I also liked when Jack and Sam were hiding in the hall, the easy closeness and Jack's hand on her shoulder that they had going.

Overall Thoughts:

I'm not liking Samantha Carter anymore and yet, I'm still pairing her up. Seriously, what's wrong with me? Because I liked the idea of her with Martuff, too. *headdesk*

I was happy to hear less about Shar'ae from Daniel, but rather see the interaction in Secrets.

Jack, is as always, my favorite. He's so put together, the poor man is always getting hurt (the arrow in Spirits, the ball in A Message in a Bottle), and he's just so snippy. And, I hadn't realized quite how old Richard Dean Anderson is...and damn. He's just so incredibly hott. I also liked watching the slow transition of his hair from brown to silver. *is shallow, yes*

While there were more favorite eps in second season, I don't know if it was just me being a good deducer of shows, or the season itself, but I kind of liked season one better because not everything was as predictable (if you didn't get that from all my notes above).

Favorite eps:
1st Season
Children of the Gods
Hathor
Enigma
There But For The Grace of God
Within The Serpent's grasp

2nd Season
The Serpent's Lair
Thor's Chariot
Secrets
Touchstone
The Fifth Race
1969

Oh, I've also started a SG-1 fic. Seriously, someone kill me now. *facepalm*

Fellow AcklesManics! (Oh, he is so going to regret Jimmy EVER mentioned a name...*laughs evilly*) Since this is everywhere, I thought I'd spread the love of Jensen Ackles on Jimmy Kimmel Live a bit more. I love whoever the other guest is--her comment cracked me up. Very funny interview.

And yay--SPN tonight!!

And this!! David Duchovny on Showtime? I don't get this kind of cable, but I'll be sure to find the eps somehow! I'd love to see DD full time again.
