For those of you who have watched this special.
A few things that caught my attention...
Ok, first off, I love Stargate. And yes, it is the longest running sci-fi show. But they keep saying that and I just want to say--only by one year! Only by one year and X-Files had its 200th episode in season 9. So...they really only have 13 more eps. *guards her number 1 show jealously* (However, major props to SG not only having one movie but filming two others already. XF can't even manage a second.)
Also, Amanda saying that before Carter there were no real, do-it all, strong women in sci-fi. Now, I realize Scully wasn't an astrophysicist, but she was a scientist and not only attempted to stop aliens (and numerous other monsters), she had to fight against the government. And she'd been doing it for four years before Carter.
Moving on, did anyone else note at about 14:13 (minutes in), Ben and Michael and the weirdly intimate touching? I really want caps of that scene, because the touching is just too incredibly adorable. REALLY. *see icon*
I loved David Hewlett a little more when he said the show isn't a soap opera. He's completely right. Despite the UST with Sam and Jack and Daniel being the biggest space pimp EVA, it never once comes across as "drama". You can't find that on most other shows (think Without a Trace and all those other cop/law shows). Yay for sci-fi. And take that all you sci-fi naysayers. (No, not directed to my flist, more at my family and friends who just don't understand my inner geek.)
And how, at like 57, is Richard Dean Anderson still so freakin' hot? Sean Connery? He's got nothing on RDA.
