by the way, I am sorry to hear about your grandmother. I think you mentioned it in passing to me but we never actually delved deep into it like you are now. Its a very tough decision that you face especially when you think about certain decisions affecting the rest of your life (like your decision to wait a year before coming to FSU) but I love the fact that you're putting family first and I'm glad you have a family that would appreciate it sans father. It sucks when you have a dad that values material things more than family or values, but you have the backup of your mom and you were trying to find a way to pay her back for all of the things she has done and I think you found your way. The thing is if you put it into perspective is that while yeah, you'll be putting off your dream for a little while, you're going to be working for the rest.of.your.life. You won't get a whole lot of chances to be with your family, you know. Not that your parents are cryptic like mine, but still. ;) Honestly, not that you want my opinion or anything, is if you're planning on going on to scotland for who knows how long, then it might be good for you to 1) spend more time with your family before going on a long journey 2) not have to worry about other expenses that have been tearing you down and making my Amanda stress beyond all recognition 3) help your mom out with certain things regarding your grandma and cousins.
There's really nothing for you here in Tally, my love. Although we love you more than anything, I would never tell you to stay somewhere that has no future for you. Your family needs you, your finances need a break and we'll just have to deal. I suppose we'll have to get a new car to make the trip. ;)
Head up though. Stay strong and yeah, it might get worse before it gets better, but we'll be here to get you through it. /end corny closing
