When you moved to Seattle I had no idea how our friendship would evolve. I never expected that it would become wine and dinner nights, shitty television and beer afternoons, long walks or just half-awake coffees in the morning (or "morning" since neither of us really want to be up before noon). I didn't know I'd come to feel so comfortable with you that I wouldn't be afraid to ask if I could crash on your couch when I was too sleepy (read: tipsy) to drive.

I can talk with you about anything and I never feel judged. I can be brave enough to try new things with you and know that it's okay if I get nervous or scared or fail because you will be there to laugh it off or take me away from panic or hand me a beer. I can knock on your door when you're half asleep in your underwear at 2pm and you are still happy to see me. (It may have helped that I was bringing you coffee and sugar.) And we can see each other on our days off, or not, and either way it's okay because we understand that not every ounce of our free time has to be with people, that sometimes you just want to sit in a dirty house without a bra on and fuck around on the internet...sometimes with a friend, sometimes without.

I feel safe with you. And that's a big deal for me. So thank you for that.
