So the D.Gray-man dub is on TV now, should be great, right?
Uh, no.
I still greatly prefer Hoshino's art style to whoever desgined the characters for the anime, and the dub itself could have been better. I mean, why would a Japanese man living at the end of the 19th century call someone"shortstack", a reference to pancakes probably invented by Denny's or IHOP? Wouldn't "beansprout" have worked just fine? It's the same number of syllables and more culturally appropriate. At least Kanda still has a dirty mouth, or dirtier than the official manga translation, anyway. I never thought it would be so nice to hear "son of a bitch!" instead of "cripes" or something just as lame.
Oh well, at least the Baccano! dub seems good.
