"Shounen Onmyouji"

A short review-like thing on the anime "Shounen Onmyouji".......

I stumbled upon this little bugger by chance, and so far, I'm glad I did. "Shounen Onmyouji", The Boy Onmyouji, is about a Feudal era boy named Masahiro training to be an onmyouji. An onmyouji, from what I've seen so far *3 episodes*, is basically a demon slayer, fortune teller, monk-ish person........kind of like Miroku from Inuyasha. Actually, the whole story has a very Inuyasha-y feel to it, just less of Kagome and more bishounen. Anyhow, back to the point. Masahiro is the grandson of a great onmyouji called Seimei. He was expected to be as great as his grandfather in demon slaying and the like, but since a young age, he has not been able to even see demons or supernatural beings. However, after meeting a demon he names Mokkun (who is so old and so 'special' that even Masahiro can see), he starts to regain his power to see (other) demons. He decides that he wants to become greater than his grandfather because he is tired of being known simply as 'Seimei's grandson' and wants to be his own person.
This surprising cute show is fairly new, it stopped running in Japan only early spring 2007. The animation and voice acting are great, but it doesn't seem to be very well known. Apparently, there are 'hints' of shounen-ai in this series, but for those of you who prefer het., Masahiro already had a (female) crush as of episode 2. The subbed episodes are available on Youtube.

P.S. I'll get around to posting my homecoming pictures soon! As soon as I figure out how to get them off my digital camera and on to the computer............head desk.
