I've been away for so long....
Anyway, A couple of dreams. The first was probably at UMass, though it was a little Chicago too. I was waiting to meet with Sigrid, but her office was locked. The office next door was Guy's, so I waited in there, but with some trepidation. I was worried he might come back, and then we'd have to chat. There was a box of items under his desk, and I saw it included a stuffed cheetah and stuffed mountain lion I had given him. I was sad because he intended to give them to the Salvation Army. I thought--maybe I can just take the cheetah back, after all, he doesn't want it. Guy came in then and told me about taking them to donate, and I just sort of gritted my teeth and said nothing. Because, after all, I gave them to him, and it was his right to do anything he wanted with them after that.
The second dream, which was vaguely connected with the first, took place at a beach in the off-season. Something like Atlantic City. It was cool (not cold, but maybe 50s). There were a number of people on the beach milling around. Michael was nearby, but I couldn't see him. I was sitting with my back up against a concrete wall and my legs in the sand. There was a dust storm periodically coming through and obscuring the view to the water. I was concerned about Michael, though I didn't want to leave the beach. I was a little surprised they hadn't evacuated the beach due to the storm. Anyway, through the sandy air I could see Michael running back and forth into the water. It was then I realized he was building a sand castle for a competition. A bit later, the competition was being judged. It turned out that there were only two entries--Michael's and another--because of the sandstorms. The other entry had clearly been premade and assembled on site, though it was very good. The judge, who worked at Greenfields Market, was pretty fair about the whole thing and decided to split the award. Michael was supposed to get $150, but he wouldn't take it. I asked the market guy, "is this coming out of your pocket?" and he said no. So I urged Michael to take the money, but when he refused again, I said to the guy, "look, I'll take it and give it to him later when he's changed his mind."
