Well, as you know, today was the first day of selling ads for the yearbook of four days total (the three others being all in different months). My parents gave me $20 for an ad for their transport business, and Matt's parents did the same, except it wasn't really for a business (last year the line read "Mr. and Mrs. Delton Clanton"). Hey, that's $40 right there. As it turns out, Courtney Hall was not allowed to go because her parents are weird (her dad wrote on the permission slip, the one that has "_____ has permission to go...," 'Courtney does not' in the blank, and signed his name). She couldn't go, and we had to move to four groups and not five.

George and Bridget
Matt and I left out for Highway 82. On the way, we passed my dad by Sack and Save (or Save Rite now, whatever it is) on his way to Jackson with some cars. Our first stop on Highway 82 was Gateway Tires. We were fairly successful here. We talked to the people inside, told them it was $20 for a line, $50 if they wanted to sponsor a page. The people knew a couple of (fraternal) twin girls at our school, who they nicknamed "Buck and Duck", and decided to sponsor the sophmore page those two would be on.
Add $50, total of $90.
Then we get a string of barely anything. We checked lots of hotels, their managers were all either in meanings, or we had to track said manager down, and they had to get something from the main office (which was only the Ramada, to be honest). Mrs. Gail was off work at the Bread Store today, couldn't get her (though the lady said the person we needed to talk to would be there the next day). Mrs. Tribble's shop, right next to the Bread Store, was closed at that time. Went to GoodYear right next to them, and Mr. John wasn't it (he knows my parents). We meant to go back and check, but we forgot. We checked How Joy's, but Mrs. Wong wasn't in, and we forgot to go back and check her as well. We went to Tom Wadler Nissan, and they sent us to the KIA lot, which was a couple of lots over (a hotel divides them). We need to speak to a "Jackie." She's not there. We go back later, they take us to her, she's running her mouth on the phone. She asks if we had an appointment, say no and what we were there for. She gives us a card, tells us to make an appointment, continues speaking. Bitch. Some places were hit up by the cheerleaders for the atheletic program over the summer, so some only claimed they did one thing for a school, or only for one school and rotated it, so none from some of these. There were also a few other places who had the corporate thing, and they'd have to get back to us. Shoney's is going to buy one from us, but the manager just can't get it to us now and told us to come back.
Later on, Leslie called us and said something about eating at San Juan's around 12:30. I asked her if the rest of the staff agreed on this, because it was the first time I had heard of it. She claimed yes, so I just took that. Matt said it was the first he had heard of it too. We kept on rolling and we went to Wade Incorporated John Deere. They bought one from us last year and did again.
Add $20, total $110.
As we're going back the other way on 82 (which by now, we've gone all over the place, so we haven't been going just one way), we get a call from Caitlin, and asks how we were doing and such. I mention eating, and she knew about San Juan's. I took what she said and told Matt. We were pretty pissed off that no one mentioned this to us. The way we decided on it? "Screw them." Matt and I went to the Taco Bell right by us, picked up some Drive-Thru, and took it to my house, didn't call the rest of the staff, and ate it while watching some of Die Hard. If they called his car phone, we didn't know about it.
At about 12:40, we got back on the road. We went on Colorado, which wasn't technically ours, but no one hit them up. We went to Smith Funeral Home. They like our school, and one of the guys that works there has a grandson that plays football (Eric Harmon). We got them to get another $20 ad, as they had one last year. We go further down Colorado to my eye doctor's office, which is a building with his office the left side, and Charlie Lum's Optical on the right. I figured Charlie would buy one, he knows my mom fairly well. We get in and he buys TWO $20 lines, one for Lum's Optical, and one for what appears to be his DJ business (I've heard he's pretty good, and I'm going to tell Doc to hire him for the Christmas Formal). Dr. Hayles's secretary gave us a number to call "Cindy" for the ad for his office.
Add $60, total $110.
It's now about 1:08 and we head back to school. We get there around 1:22 or so. Leslie called us while when we were almost there, we told her earlier she could pick up some of the hotels that we would have gone back to (Hampton). Matt and I are first ones back. We tell Doc of our $170 and more coming to us later. He informs us t-shirts were coming in at a nice rate during the day, and he's letting us sell one more day longer somehow. Kristal was in this class, but I didn't make my move (which I hope will happen tomorrow).
We go outside and watch the buses, because he has duty. George and Bridget come in not long after we're out there, then soon after, Brittany, Caitlin, and Candice. George and Bridgety did quite well, and Brittany's group did well over $300 (I think it was like $382). We decide to go and Ginger and Leslie come in right as we pull off the campus.
All in all, I believe we did quite well. Not only this, but Lisa (my sister in law) gave me a list of places to hit that had people she knew (some being ex-boyfriends, and told us to tell them she'd come up there and their kick their asses if they didn't buy an ad; and she'll do it too, even though she was joking). I'll also get Cooper's Parents (Santucci and Sons Construction), Hope's parents (Scarborough Ark-La-Miss Cleaning or something or other), and Tina's parents (Redwine Salvage, who did buy an ad last year).
It's now 10:41, and quite obviously, I'm tired. I hope tomorrow I'll have some story with Kristal to talk about.
