Don't speak, let the silence stand between us
there's no point struggling, love
there's already a lot that you dont hear, there's already a lot you don't see
between you and i.
A thick brick wall, a razorwire fence of unspoken words
that digs into my skin whenever i try to climb over
back to your side.
is it lonely there?
Do you hug me through the barbed wire
the way i kiss your shadow on my side
ever time the sun is in the sky?
My very heart betrays me
my own flesh, my own blood.
So i kiss you, if only to keep my mouth busy
for fear that my tongue will follow suit
and turns coat too.
So i hold you tighter than ever in case my body does what my mind is plotting
and they elope together on a forbidden vegas shotgun wedding.
Maybe we can learn some kind of code
an tap i love you-s and i miss you-s
through the years that say
we were never meant to be
maybe we can use smoke signals
fan the old flames of passion
spelling out former feelings
that may still hold true
sending heart shaped clouds sailing
over the horizon.
