Weekend
Well I was sick all week, so I was in no mood to work Saturday. Friday was pretty aweful ans I was moving slow all day. I told them I was too sick to work and hoped for the best. (They called anyway on Saturday.)
So I was free to go to this Amtgard event over the weekend. I arived after the last official event, so no A&S entries. My colon was still acting up a bit and I had to call at the final fight of the quest. (Not like a 1st level bard with a dagger is much help against skeletons.) I had to skip out at feast to hit the bathroom too, but after that it was a bit better. The stew was really good, but I was glad I'd been snacking. Portions were a tad small.
After that was the bonfire. The singing didn't begin until they finished the fundraising back-waxing (you heard me). The singing was awesome, and I was extended a personal invitation to the FMF fire to sing for them. I sang for quite a while at the big fire, and heard many others sing wonderful songs. It was great. I only regret that my performance suffers as I get drunk. The tone quality goes down and I have trouble remembering words.
When I got back to the other fire, I was primarily the one singing. There was lots of idle talking and joking as well. I mentioned the bard's need for a hat, and was awarded my first talon, a coin for my hat! They even said I could likely sing at the other camps and get money, but I was doubtful.
I slept in the van with penty of blankets, waking a few times for the bathroom. Once I was up I sat around for a while and tried a few times to wake the FMF people. On the drive up, I'd been so excited that I drove strait through, but on the way back I stopped for gas and food and even stopped at a rest stop just to nap. Next time I may just skip gaming so that I don't have to drive. I had tried to get someone else to go with me, but no one was available.
On a side note, I took a nap after work today. I rested well with a full belly and had pleasant dreams. First, in the context of Amtgard, monsters were attacking and I went for my sword, but this time I was pretty confident in my skill. I drempt of Ashley there too, but the details of that part grow hazy. I think she was in the third part of the dream though. I was in a deep mine, filed with workers. They had discovered something powerful, and I knew it to be Cthulian. After the doctor awakened/created some horror, there were two people with me who I was trying to get into the dark temple with me so I could protect them. I had seen huge lego blocks floating over water, an expanse of blue. It was pretty cool.
