I've had a good day.
There, I said it. ;)
I've been in a funk for a couple of weeks, having had a blow up with a good friend to burying Midnite in the back yard.
But today, today was good.
I'm known at work for ... "horrible pep talks" as my one manager says. Mainly because she's been known to ask me for a positive thought and what comes out tends to be a variation on a theme - the fact that we are better off than those that died last night.
Depressing, I know, but it's the thought that these people from all walks of life and of all ages, races, religions and genders, all died last night. For one reason or the other, they are no longer alive to see another sunrise, sunset, and that they would probably trade places with us if they could. Those 'big, important problems' we have are not the worst thing that will happen to us. One day, we will die, so we better make the most of what we have.
Apparently, I can write it better that I say it.
Or not.
But Manager K has been joking with what horrid pep talks I give. So I wrote one at work today - a proper pep talk - and read it to her later (with all the flare ala Alexander that I could muster). And she liked it so much, that she had me read it for another co-worker, and asked for a copy of it. And she admitted that I am actually good at pep talks, when I want to be. I still can't believe she wanted a copy of it.
We had a good night at the store. It was a late night as it was a change over night, but we managed to accomplish a lot with only four of us. And we were having laughs at the end, which is always a good thing. I also managed to track down a book for someone, as well as find some for things I've been researching.
My walk, when I got home, went well. The weather's turning nicer and the walk was wonderful (and a good way to burn off some caffeine).
I hopped on line and what do I find? Someone picked up my book. I 'read and release' books - bookcrossing.com will give you the overview of the idea. Well, I've done two thus far. But my latest one was 'caught' and someone posted about finding it. I know, it's a little thing to be excited about, but I am. The kid seems to be excited about having 'caught' a book. Anything I can do to encourage reading, I'm all for.
Like I said, today was a good day. Tomorrow will be better.
And I just have to wait for the caffeine to leave the system some more and I can head to bed...
work,
fun times,
