There's a little black spot on the sun today....

So, since I got a new (old) friend on here, thought maybe I should update this journal and get everyone (all three of you) up to speed on life. And what have I been up to lately, you ask? Well... a lot.

Move into a new place. And its pretty freaking sweet! It's a block from campus and downtown and across the street from the Old State Capitol. You can actually see the main tower from the Capitol from my bedroom window. This town is very pretty at times (I guess it was designed to be so, being Georgia's Antebellum capitol city) and I am very lucky to be able to rent a room on this street in particular.

I didn't take this picture, but that's the Old Capitol, that middle tower is what I can see every morning.

There is actually a lot of history on this street (Washington) inbetween Wilkinson and Wayne, and Dr. Bob and I decided it be a great research topic, as to what buildings were on this street and who owned them circa 1851. So when I am not in class, at work,(playing trivia) or doing a radio show, I am in the courthouse looking up tax records from the 1850s. Fun!

What!? Did he just say he does radio? Why yes, yes he did.

In fact, I have two radio shows. I do the morning show, Waking up with Thunder! (I didn't name it), Mondays at 7:30 and 9:30am and I have my own show (Made in the 80s!)  Tuesdays at 5pm. Everyone should tune in at www.gcsuradio.com (since everyone who is reading this AND would like to listen are slightly outside our broadcast range). We're actually podcasting some shows now (my two included) but I am not sure of how to access them yet.... when I do, however....

Also been working on my thesis. And when I saw working on, I mean getting books with fancy titles on the subject, placing them in a pile on the floor and hoping and praying I will have free time between now and December to actually read them! It's okay,  am not taking the capstone til the Fall and Dr. Conolly doesn't want me to start until he can talk to me during advisement in March. So I have a little time.

I guess this brings us to the subject of school (I will not get into work). I am still enrolled at Georgia College and State University. I really do like it here. It's a great school and it has really treated me well. Why I am planning on staying here for Graduate School next year.

Anecdote time!

I was in the Old Governor's Mansion Wednesday for Dr. Bob's Local History class, first time I have been in there and I have been living in this town now going on two years... Anyway, we came to the Family Dining Room and the guide tells us that that is in fact the room Sherman used as his headquarters when he captured Milledgeville and planned the second half of the March to the Sea. When I was told I was standing in the same room, a shiver went up my spine and I got goosebumps! Seriously, that was the last thing I expected and being such a history nerd... Yeah, I was excited.

Old Governor's Mansion

So yeah, to be standing in the same room that Sherman (not to mention all the Antebellum governors) have stood in was a real treat!

Well, that is all!

Namaste
