Where to begin? I have no idea as thinking about each of these days are giving me a headache. Tuesday, Tyler's birthday party went really well, he loved his presents, his new LeapPad, robots, his bike, he loved it all. I never got the chance to eat the cake but I took some great pictures. He was so happy. Went he was done unwrapping his presents he said, "I need to tell everyone something...thank you so much for all these wonderful presents." Such a gentleman.
Took the Sky-Ride to the airport, wouldn't make anyone drive me there as it is 45 miles from the house. The bus had a minor issue which needed to be addressed, they did this the stop before the airport, changed busses, no big deal, five minute delay. Got to the airport, walked to security, scanned all my carry-on's and me, and went to the wrong concourse, B instead of A. Silly me. Still had a lot of time.
Got to the write concourse and gate, sat down, got comfortable, listened to some music, called Jessica and my parents, Jessica was still at the neighbors, left a few messages, all happy, glad she was able to keep the children occupied. Boarded the aircraft, an Airbus A320, got comfortable, pulled out the headphones, listened to the tower chatter and then some music, took off, passed out. The flight was rather turbulent, lots of bumps, rolls, this and that, all fun, then again, I slept through all of it. Before landing the winds were pretty strong aloft, I swore the plane was going to drop out of the sky--it was great. Landed, only a little hop, taxied to the gate, and got off the plane quickly.
Car rental, I booked a midsized car, which would be a Chevy Malibu or similar, they were out and only had mini-van's left, same price, why not. I'll never say no to a good deal. Got in, set all the mirrors and the radio, drove to my parents.
My mom saw me pull up to the drive-way, guided me in so my father could leave in the morning, and had dinner waiting for me (at 10pm). It was good, definitely home-cooking, or as some would call it, comfort food. We talked until about midnight and she went to bed (dad was already in bed). I stayed up, watched a little television and couldn't sleep. I hate it when that happens.
Woke up at 6:30 so I would be at my 9am meeting. Got stuck in hellish traffic, dead lights, idiot drivers, everything atypical California.
Met with my big boss at 9, he took everything in, really liked the technology, capabilities, and told us to go ahead with it. That is definitely a blessing. Had another meeting that afternoon, everything felt the exact same way. It was great.
Left at 5. Big mistake. No traffic near the office but the minute I got onto the main freeway, not the toll-road, traffic, 2MPH or just a little faster. Took me almost 2 hours to drive 40 miles. Rediculous. I'm glad I live in Colorado. Mom and dad were waiting for me, had dinner ready, it was great. Helped dad with his computer, installed some new software, had a few laughs. All good.
Mom talked about my grandma, told me how she was the few months before her death, how she acted, her humor, everything, it was great to really know this, knowing my grandma the last few days of her life really touched upon me how wonderful and faithful she was to herself, her family, and her God. It was great.
Fell asleep around 1am, still with a damn headache. Woke up, same headache, around 7am. Left the house around 8, got to the office at 8:40, how apropos. People were driving like idiots. I had a semi drive right in front of me (he wanted to cross the road, I had to slam on my brakes). I had another person blow out their tire completely which shredded, how wonderful.
Here I am today, Thursday, meeting after meeting. Oh well.
