With their parents safely sent home, the drama of the wedding over and their new lives as a married couple finally beginning, Arizona took a moment to catch her breath. Sitting on the end of the bed she took in the apartment through the bedroom door and smiled. This is it. Its not our apartment, its our family home. The family she never wanted but would never change now she had it. The whole apartment felt different. Even Mark was paying it more respect, opting to knock before entering rather than just strolling in. It was bliss. For the first time since returning from Malawi, Arizona felt like everything was as it should be. But something nagged at the back of her mind. Tugging on her with a mild regret that she just couldn't shake.
With Sofia still so young and needing so much care, there was no way that she and Callie could slip away for a honeymoon. The time of Sangria on the beach while watching Callie exit the surf in a perfectly cut two piece, were gone. Now it would be family rooms and water wings. Not that she minded but she did have a niggling regret that she had missed her moment.
Slipping from the bed she stepped out into the living room to see Callie pacing the room with Sofia. She was just like her parents, all of them, never slept regular hours. Callie was humming a lullaby to the the angel in her arms, but stopped to smile at Arizona with pride and complete devotion. Arizona stepped behind them and wrapped her arms around Callie's waist. Swaying with them as Sofia's eyes began to close dreamily. The lullaby became quieter as Callie did her best to walk slowly to the nursery. Careful not to make a sound Arizona followed watching as Callie tenderly tucked in their most prized treasure. Nothing in the world could compare to the adoration they both felt for this tiny human. Arizona even found herself thinking "Their baby isn't as cute as mine" when parents would introduce her to their bundle of joy. It made her feel guilty but insanely pleased too.
They left the nursery in silence and listened at the door to ensure the coast was clear. As Callie turned to give the all clear Arizona took her hand and let her to the sofa. In hushed whispers they began their routine of talking about the new things Sofia did today. Both content to just gush over her progress. The tug of sleep on her eyelids was becoming harder to resist, forcing Arizona to concede defeat. "I'm going to bed baby. Try and get in ten minutes before my shift starts in an hour."
Callie smiled and lay a gentle kiss on Arizona's forehead "I'll come too. Try and get ten minutes before she wakes up." It wasn't until they were tucked in bed that Callie spoke again. This time her tone held a subtle hint of worry. "Arizona, do you regret any of this?"
Arizona shifted to bring her forehead against Callie's, cupping her chin in her hands "If I could go back, to the very start. I wouldn't change a thing. Though, I do regret not having our vacation. You would look so hot chilling on a beach, your skin all glistening in the sun. But ah well, we have 18 years to go. You'll still look amazing."
Callie laughed and snuggled closer "We'll still get our vacation. I promise."

Arizona's day couldn't have sucked any more. A new batch of interns had arrived and she was landed with the one who made each and every patient they met, burst into tears. Damage control was not her idea of a great day. Slowly she began to trudge home. But with each step it felt lighter. The closer she got, the happier her heart felt. Looking up to the familiar sight of their living room window she paused. It wasn't like Callie to have the blinds drawn when Arizona was at work. It was their way of keeping each other close. Callie had been listening to Belinda Carlisle and told Arizona that there would always be a light on for her to come home to. And from that moment on, whenever either was working they could look out and see the light on in the apartment and know that home was there. But tonight the blinds were drawn. It made Arizona's chest feel heavy for a moment.
It was as she stood at the door to their home that the second sign something was strange appeared. Bird calls were coming from inside. Arizona hoped that Callie hadn't been out making impulse buys again. She still had nightmares over the leather massage chair that had appeared in the living room. Mark had kindly offered to take it off their hands.
As she opened the door though, Arizona couldn't decide which emotion to pick.
Stood in front of her in a red, two piece bathing suit was Callie. This in itself would have Arizona's jaw scraping on the carpet. But the rest of the room had put her jaw in the apartment below. Their furniture was all gone. In its place was .. a beach. Little palm tree's in planter pots lined the walls, the sound of waves and tropical birds were coming from the stereo. Even more impressive was the sand. Her first thought was "Oh god, the carpet" but at the fringes of the room Arizona could make out the fringes of a blue tarp, spread the entire length of the room. If that wasn't enough, Stretched over the room, concealing the kitchen was a huge picture of the ocean. Callie had even included beach towels and a picnic. Arizona didn't know where to look. It was so overwhelming that it took her a while to realize she was stood with her bag half dropped in the only patch of floor not covered in white sand. "How... w..what... How?!"
Callie stood beaming and reached for a glass with a pink umbrella poking out above the rim. "If we can't go to the beach, I brought the beach to us." Arizona bypassed the drink and had embraced Callie in an instance. The passion in her kiss caused Callie to stumble back a little. "Woah there cowgirl, you need to get changed. Its on the bed." Arizona was too stunned to argue. In minutes she was back in the living room in a baby blue bikini. It was incredibly warm in here, Callie must have cranked the heat up to "On the sun"
Callie was spread out on a beach towel, sunglasses propped on her forehead. "Mark has Sofia. He practically ran from the apartment with her. He also helped to coordinate this little feat of engineering."
"I love him."
Callie laughed "No you don't. But I'll pass on the sentiment. Now, start drinking before the ice melts." Arizona took her place on the towel next to Callie and began sipping at her drink while staring at the ocean scene in front of her.
"This is perfect. I... I just can't get over how amazing this is. How amazing you are!" Callie grinned with pride and wrapped an arm around Arizona's waist.
"I do have one condition." Callie's face was serious and Arizona couldn't help but mimic it. "No sex on the beach." Arizona raised an eyebrow and Callie smiled "Sand, in all sorts of places. No." Arizona placed her drink down and began to place soft kisses down Callie's neck. Her hand snaking around Callie's back to the ribbon tie at the back of Callie's neck. The soft moans slipping from Callie's lips told Arizona that there would be minimal resistance. "Ok...maybe just once...."
