the sea of many prompts

Many, many Zephy prompts. So many prompts. I guess I'll post them by fandom? Why not.

These are the Arakawa prompts. The first one was meant to be Ed and Al, but then turned out to be Trisha, idk. And the last one is too long and I didn't even try to explain how the Ryuukou/Taitou came to be. Which is a shame, because I'm sure it was hilarious.

I haven't been able to find anything past vol 2, so I have only the anime to rely on. No one has scanned past ch. 7!

I think Ryuukou has serious issues... did he side with Keirou because he just wants to stop a clash, or because Keirou is his father? The Chinese have a cultural rule about children following their father's orders. To go against a father would be moral violence.

JE was actually licensed by Zen press, the first volume will be out this October! So maybe it will gain popularity? However, it seems to me that if a manga isn't popular in Japan, and doesn't become popular in the West through fans translating it into english, they don't tend to become very popular when brought over by companies...
I would have thought for a manga done by Hiromu Arakawa, it would have a larger fan base. I was very surprised to see no fan sites in english.

One fic is about Laila and Taitou and the other two are Taitou and Ryuukou. They are all in spanish. But babel fish doesn't make the fics very comprehensible. So, no Shimei. On one hand, Shimei is a stereotype: he is the bad one manipulating everyone and doing as he pleases. But he very comedic in his persona.

I look forward to any more fics you write. I love how you write crazy-Allen Walker(saying he is crazy is rather redundant, no?)~ I would love there to be more Taitou and Ryuukou out there. Ryuukou has to act like the grownup, but Taitou drives him up-the-wall... it just is hilarious.

Oh, Ryuukou. I'm pretty sure he sided with Keirou because he's brainwashed. I haven't watched the anime yet, but as far as the manga, my reasoning is this:

When he's fighting with...that guy...Kouchou? They have this conversation:

Kouchou: We will kill everyone who disagrees with us until the only survivors are peaceful folk!
Ryuukou: ...Did you just say you're going to force peace on people through violence? Because that is officially the stupidest thing I've ever heard.

And then, a mere chapter later:

Ryuukou: We will kill everyone who disagrees with us until there is peace!
Koyou: Um, you really can't force peace on people through violence.
Taitou: OH MY GOD, RYUUKOU, WHEN DID YOU GET STUPID?
Ryuukou: [to himself] Why doesn't he understand?

Okay. So I see no way to explain this other than brainwashing. It's a complete 180 from the previous chapter, and Ryuukou didn't gain any new information during that time. He already knew about the father thing before conversation #1.

Possibly this is somewhat me covering my ears and going LA LA LA against the possibility of Ryuukou ACTUALLY being that stupid, but. Really. It does seem odd.

Is Juushin Enbu not popular in Japan? ...Whoa. I'm surprised. Then again, maybe not. Maybe Arakawa should try to break this new habit she has of killing large portions of the cast. Just a thought.

I do like Shimei though, despite, um, everything about him. He's just so gleefully chaos-making. Like a cross between Puck and Shiva on a bad day. He doesn't seem to have any goals beyond making everyone's life a misery and laughing about it, which is unusual in a villain. You can just see him standing above a horrific battlefield, cackling and saying, "Ah ha ha. I DID THAT."

...Hang on, that may have already happened.

Anyway. He seems like a fandom favorite kind of guy. Surely someone will try to make him out to be SEKRITLY tormented. I'm waiting for it. :D

But yes. Taitou/non-brainwashed!Ryuukou...they're so cute! So cute and hilarious! Someday they will have a fandom. Surely, surely. *crosses fingers*

The anime is very different from what I've seen of the manga. Ryuukou decides to join Keirou because he doesn't want a fight between the Hagun and Tonrou and believes it is his duty to keep them separated. He also wants peace and thinks Keirou might be able to...
I hope in the manga he's been brainwashed. Shimei probably could do it.

Ryuukou comes off as the brightest of the lot, and I don't think he would be so easily swayed to go off killing people. I just read the raw of ch. 9, so I think I have an idea of what's going on!

When does Ryuukou find out that Keirou is his father? In the anime, he had a knife that had his father's name engraved on it.

I don't think Juushin Enbu is popular. I'm having a hard time tracking any fan sites in Japanese, but I'm not great at it.

How many people has Arakawa offed anyway? I think Housei gets killed in ch. 15... and his master was killed...

Shimei is interesting in that there is nothing that he actually wants. He doesn't want fame, fortune or anything decadent like that. He just wants to see the world go to hell. and that isn't very common on a villain. Keirou, well, he wants the empire. That's pretty ordinary.

I just re-read a chapter where Taitou beats up some guards and steals their horses. All the while, Ryuukou is pretending that he can't hear or see any of it. Afterward, Taitou asks him why he is so pale and saying Ryuukou will go bald. To which Ryuukou responds "who's fault is that!"
They really are adorable together! I hope Taitou saves him from being brainwashed!

Technically I don't know that Keirou is Ryuukou's father--that would just be the most logical explanation for his horrified facial expression when Ryuushou was telling him things about Keirou. And HA, apparently that was a good guess. :D

...If we can trust the anime.

THE DEATH LIST:

So first there was Kouei. Then Ryuushou is at the very least arrested, quite possibly executed. Next Toukaku, who used to be friends with Souei in the old days, gets poisoned. Not to be outdone, Souei gets himself killed right in front of Laila (thanks for nothing, Shimei). Then, yes, it looks like Housei. WHO WAS MY FAVORITE, ARAKAWA. *wails*

I actually haven't read about Housei yet. That book isn't out...or I don't have it, anyway...but in a moment of weakness I picked up a copy of Gangan (fail fail), and they had a little summary of previous chapters. Which seemed to boil down to "despair, misery, woe, more despair, death death death."

I hope SOMETHING good happens soon. I'm getting increasingly not picky about what that good thing is. >_<

But! There does seem to be Keirou backstory in the new book, and also Kouei backstory. That could be interesting...

Maybe Linmei will smack him out of being brainwashed. I would settle for that. I think Taitou would enjoy it, too. :D

There are 16 chapters out of JE, and I found all of the raws for it... so much death... so many people die...

But apparently Ryuukou wasn't brainwashed. Though I wonder why he switched sides. He knows what a monster Keirou is, so why join?

It seems like how the story is developing, it will reach its climax soon. The group (who are alive) are making their way towards Keirou. I would think that this will be the big fight.

And ch. 15 killed the possibility of TaitouxRyuukou... I don't dislike Linmei, or anything. I just think Taitou is funnier and gives a better foil to Ryuukou.
