Hnnnnng I'm not sure whose part I like more. I think Kusakabe. Because he accepts that Hibari is a fluffball. Also Chrome in that part was quietly heartbreaking (well, she usually is, but, y'know.) ... To be honest I'd have liked to see more of Kyouya learning to take care of the baby immediately after getting her, but older Asami is such a terror it's quite fine. ♥
Kusakabe <3. He must know Hibari better than anyone. AND HE STICKS AROUND, so he must know something other people don't. XD

I figure that whole first year was an endless nightmare of chronic sleep-deprivation and violence against everyone who spoke a breath of criticism/advice/ANYTHING to Hibari, and none of his men thought they'd survive it. First-year, first-time parents are short-tempered zombies in the best of circumstances, and HIBARI... XD
XDDDD This is a rare BG pairing for KHR fandom, usually when I see chrome involved with hibari, it's never without Mukuro attached in a 3-way.
The chinese fandom tends to portray chrome softer than yours, more like a samurai's wife sort of personality - she can do as the warriors do, but is content in the background (a little like Nana with bit more of a lethal kick) so usually I've seen Chrome paired up with Tsuna or with Ken. But still. Such a good read. I'm a sucker for a good read.
And Papa Hibari. <3 He WOULD be such a good father, despite the psychoticness of it all XDDD (he'd be a good brother too, whether older or younger. It was hilarious how he 'reverse-grooms' Dino in one AU fic to be the perfect husband for his older sister - her personality was much like your portrayal of Hibari's mother. XDDDD )
It's my philosophy that everyone is more interesting paired with Hibari. You'd really have to be THE EXTREMEST VERSION OF YOURSELF to survive a relationship with Hibari, so...I kind of like to pair everyone off with him. Except Gokudera (if Gokudera gets anymore extreme he will DIE) and Ryouhei (I think Ryouhei has extreme well covered already). And Lambo, I guess. I fail to pair Lambo with anyone. XD
So Chrome has all this interesting potential, and I think Hibari would really bring it out of her. COULD BE AWESOME.
Yeah, with Hibari, you have to catch up to him/insert yourself into his world rather than vice versa. If he accepts you, he'll UNBEND some, but ... it's still more you singing to his tune. (even Hibird, c'mon, Namimori school song after .... less than 24 hours? XDDDD)
I don't know what ppl think when they pair Lambo. he's still a very malleable personality! now Lampo, Lampo ppl stick with Knuckles all the time. (and wasn't Ryouhei's official canon CP Haru?)
Chrome. Chrome is such a DARLING. She's just so woefully underutilized in canon. (how much formal training did that girl actually have before she stood at the frontlines?)
... oh yeah. If he had a HERBIVORE for a child, he'd be ... disappointed, and totally cannot understand what happened there, but he'd STILL guard and raise it. Just as well Asami isn't one.
Ryouhei is officially with Hana. Hana! She is my favorite side character ever among side characters and I wrote a whole fic devoted to the love of her. XD
Chrome is underloved in canon, it's true. ;_; But yeah, I would love backstory childhood stories on her, because everything post-crash must have been INSANE.
XD oops. I haven't read ALL of the manga, and hopping between chinese/english scans means I tend to be cross-wired on minor character's names. (Haru = 春, single kanji, Hana = 花, also single kanji.) I think that's where I got messed up.
... incidentally, I've seen Kyoko/Hana as a pairing in the chinese fandom. XDDDD
She's just so obviously /neglected/ and in need of a hug that she's just so ACCEPTING of Mukuro's taking charge of her life. Not much questioning of this new reality either. Any backstory childhood on her is bound to be woobie-esque - I do prefer to think of her birth father as an almost forgotten/distant warmth, probably having died early in Nagi (Chrome's old name)'s childhood so she doesn't remember more than a tall shadow figure of a father that's protective and warm. (and distance is what most japanese trad. male/father roles are like ... so)
