Thank you! What a wonderful comment!

I love that you picked up on the isolation of the second part--which is really just an externalization of the inner-isolation seen in the first part. Ianto internalizes to the point where even the thing trying to possess him doesn't feel any resistance, and that transforms into a real, physical isolation.

I knew from the beginning that Ianto didn't belong in the cells or in the cryo, but there was no way that Jack could just let him go free. Not Jack. I don't think he even consciously realized that he wanted Ianto to escape, but his subconscious felt strong enough about it that it became a reality.

The freedom scene and the epilogue didn't solidify until it came to write them, which is odd for me. I knew that I wanted Ianto to refuse to acknowledge his wings until he knew that he was in a position to actually use them, and I knew that I wanted Jack and Ianto to meet later in time, with Jack utterly relieved to find that Ianto is okay, and infinitely better than he would have been frozen in Torchwood's cryo. I'm happy that how I wrote it really worked for you.

I don't think that I'll write any more of this 'verse, but you never know. I have an alternate version of this story that I might post, which involves fallen-angel!Ianto being held captive by Torchwood One, and being found by Jack after Canary Wharf. But we'll see.

Thanks so much for the lovely, long comment! I'm in the throes of final exams, so all encouragement is appreciated.
