I was petrified when Hobbs was attacking Justin and was so happy to see Michael come to help. It redeemed him a bit. I really thought you were going to head straight-forward to the bashing at the prom to cap off all this bullying from Hobbs. Then Michael and Brian would make up since Michael would know Brian needed him.
It was really nice to see how you slowly brought Brian into caring for Justin (and Luke) but totally kept him in character for S1. Nicely done. He definitely would come over more while fighting with Michael and would start to respect Justin more and more while watching him be a real strong Father for Luke. But he would never be verbal about it. I love how Justin knew he stayed to watch over them even when Justin fell asleep. It's the little things that kept Justin from giving up completely.
Hurray for Jennifer for standing up to Craig and getting her life back. I love seeing this scene because you can imagine them working toward repairing a better relationship in the future. Jennifer would be an asset for both Justin and Luke when Justin goes to college. Fingers crossed for PIFA.

Initially, this story was intended to cover all the way to prom, but then I realized that that was way too much, and that I only really needed to go to Christmas. Michael does redeem himself nicely in the Chris scene--I never intended to make him as nasty as he was, but... we are seeing this through Justin's eyes.
I intensely dislike stories in which Brian is secretly this huge softie, but only Justin (and progeny) bring it out in him. Brian is not a family man. Brian and Justin will never even consider the idea of marriage in this 'verse, and probably won't live together for at least a decade or two. It's just not going to happen.
End rant. Sorry. That's kind of why I wrote this story, really.
Overall, this is an uplifting chapter that just ascends into the next, equally happy chapter, which makes for a very happy ending indeed!
