International Womens Day and the fall of iconoclasm

Mar 06, 2009 09:22

March 8 is International Women's Day, and the group of synchrobloggers I hang out with decided to mark it by blogging on Christian women in history, or women in the Bible.

This year International Women's Day  happens to fall on a Sunday, and the Sunday happens to be the first Sunday of Lent, which for Orthodox Christians is the feast of the Triumph of Orthodoxy, commemorating the restoration of the holy ikons after the iconoclastic period.

That made my subject obvious - St Theodora the Iconodule was the obvious choice for my contribution, which you may read here.

But it's not too late to join in. If you want to join in the synchroblog, just e-mail Phil Wyman at pastorphil@salemgathering.com with the following information: Your name; the title of your post and the URL of your post. And when the list of other posters becomes available, copy and paste it to the bottom of your blog posting. Try to do this by Saturday, 7 March at the latest.
