I tried to post a comment in seraphimsigrist's journal, but LJ said it was too long, so I'm posting it separately here. seraphimsigrist said:
a good many Eastern Orthodox have the idea that if only everyone in the world could see an Orthodox Liturgy they would all rush to sign up, and the more so if told how many days they could be invited to consider giving up meat and milk ( Read more... )

Yes. mine was in the context of posting pictures
of a liturgy of the day which might exemplify the
"aesthetic" ...and so adding some of the words of
St Maria Skobtsova on the "aesthetic" temptation--
which in fact the parish in question as I am careful
to say does not at all give example of. So that
is a larger context, put like this in excerpt it might
seem what it was not intended to be, some sort of
harsh word against converts to our Church.
In our Church ,as no doubt in others also, people
who come will see various things in various places...
sometimes reflective of their need at first which is
not bad, beyond all of these seeings even is, as
St Maria said and as the last quotation can also
read, the shared bread and wine and the life with
and in Christ.
