25 years. What would John Lennon say about the world if he was alive today? I'm sure that there's been a lot of ink spilled on this topic, and I can't help but be a little cynical about the whole thing. I was watching the evening news earlier with ali and jw, and noticed that the bit on John Lennon's life and death was sandwiched between three different war stories. We've accomplished nothing over the years essentially. Everyone talks about making advances in global peace etc etc etc, but the minute we solve one problem we immediately find something new to fight about. It's brought me to the conclusion that people never change, that the human race is essentially the same as it was 100, 300, 500 years ago. The only thing that's changed is that we've found new and more creative ways to oppress and destroy each other. We've forgotten the concepts of peace and non violence. Nothing ever changes.
We've spent all this time focusing on the tragety of his death but we never seem to talk about how we can continue the values that he was focusing. Peace, Non Violence, he wasn't out to glorify himself, he was trying to focus on the betterment of the world as a whole.
Is that such a hard thing to focus on?
