Moving On 1/2 (Sherlock, Mycroft/Lestrade, outside pov, backstory, PG) heeroluva April 15 2012, 01:00:22 UTC
Laurel had loved her ex-husband, probably always would, but she hadn’t been in love with him for a long time. He’d been great with the kids, more of a father then her prior ex had been. They might night have been his biologically, but they were his in all the ways that mattered. It had been one of the many things that had endeared Greg to her. His sense of humor, his drive, the way he always knew what to say had made falling so easy ( ... )

Following Greg into his flat after he let her in, Laurel wasn’t sure what to expect. Rounding the corner her stomach dropped and she backed away, shaking her head in a mix of disbelief and horror. There was no way. Greg couldn’t be queer. He couldn’t… could he? It would explain so much. For a moment Laurel felt sick and used.

“Laurel, please. It’s not what you think,” Lestrade said, catching her wrist as she made for the door.

“You have no idea what I’m thinking right now! God, the laughs you must have had at my expense, forced to settle for me when you really wanted to take it up the ass.” Laurel laughed, a bitter ugly sound ( ... )

Haha, well it didn't change much since then. It probably wasn't what you had in mind, but I'm glad you like it.

“Keep an eye out, John,” Sherlock said as pushed through the last of the crowd to arrive at the police barricade separating the parade from the onlookers. “The killer won’t miss a chance to gloat. He’ll be here ( ... )

Hee. Thanks. You know he's sending a car to pick Lestrade up at the end of the parade route.

I LOVE everyone's reaction to Lestrade. Ahem.

Gone Native, The Walking Dead, Rick/Shane, Act One, animalistic behavior (SPOILERS FOR S2 FINALE) alizarin_nyc April 20 2012, 20:21:31 UTC
*(WARNING! SPOILERS FOR S2 FINALE)*

Rick waits, letting Shane lead him further and further out, away from the group and away from what they have come to know as civilization, and as home.

“Where we goin', Shane?” he asks, over and over, and he gets no real answer. “You hear me?”

“Told you,” Shane mutters. Rick’s not convinced, knows Shane knows it too.

Shane is going to kill him, that much he knows. Has known, for a while. Him or me, has been the rallying cry in both their heads for so long ( ... )

Oh. Wow. That is just...wow. It's awesome.

I can definitely see how this fits Shane, especially since it parallels his loss of humanity as the show went on. Also, it could also be seen as Shane marking himself as the alpha male over Rick before beginning his plan to take over the 'pack'.

In addition, all the little phrases, like Shane '[trudging] forward like a man going to the gallows' and '[coming] with a soft moan, like an animal dying' that foreshadows events to come are just fantastic.

The only thing I really need to point out is that at this point in the season, Rick has retired his uniform for good and is therefore not wearing it, but that's just a tiny detail that doesn't really matter in the long run.

Thank you so much for writing this!

Ah, thanks for the heads up on the uniform! An easy fix. I am really pleased you liked it - I was worried about spoilers, so it's good you've seen it all.

You've got an excellent eye, as I did intend this to be Rick's POV, but we all know where Shane is coming from too, and that Rick is not really seeing the full picture of Shane because he's too conflicted about his friend/family/role as leader.

Thanks for the inspiration to write!
