Happy Birthday to me!
Not much exciting happened today. Fielded a few birthday wishes (I think everyone else forgot, especially since I'm not living with a large chunk of the people who celebrated with me last year.), got some stuff, and so on and so forth. Slightly more exciting than your average ordinary day, but it kind of makes me pine for college again. We didn't do much, but we did something more than just going out to eat. Besides, friends are more fun than family.
However, Mom did suffer from food envy again. We went to a restaurant that tends to hit or miss with me, and today was apparently a mostly hit day. I feel like I ate a horse, or something. Rider optional. I ate one and a third chicken quesadilla (we got four, and split them between three people), a bowl of chicken tortilla soup, and two marinated chicken breasts with rice (and a pineapple ring that had been a garnish). I...usually don't eat that much. Everything was absolutely delicious, except the rice, which was a bit underdone. Oh well. Mom stole two bites of my soup and one bite of my chicken, and decided to order a bowl of soup for herself for work. Why is it my food that she always feels the need to try?
Then we went home and I somehow found space for cake and ice cream.
But now, for some odd reason, I'm having a craving for Indian food or sushi, or possibly chicken con pollo from Don Jose's. And I'm not even hungry! I'm still digesting!
Anyways, I've heard from a certain bird that I'm getting a Wii for my birthday when he finally gets over here. Apparently I wasn't the only one who received a memorial funeral sickness. I kind of wish he'd listened to my words and not my actions, although I'm still pretty damned excited. My words said, "You don't have to get me anything; all I really need is money to help pay off my college loans. Besides, if I got a game console of any kind, I'd prefer a PS3." Meanwhile, my actions apparently said something akin to, "I love this Wii! I am completely and utterly addicted! Watch me ride boars and escape from burning buildings! Go go gadget Link!"
Yes, that was me playing Twilight Princess. Yes, that was me reaching Arbiter's Grounds (and later completing them) in about 2 or 3 days. It helped keep my mind busy.
I'm still twiddling my thumbs looking for a job, but in the meantime I'm trying to dig myself out of the writing slump that dealing with Grandpa's sickness and death put me in. It's easier said than done, especially since it seems that I can't escape things talking about or dealing with brain cancer lately. To be frank, it's kind of driving me up a wall.
Oh well.
Did I mention? Today's my golden birthday. Go me! Now it seems like I have nothing to wait for, except possibly my potential 89th birthday (which, to be honest, I hope that if I do reach that point that medical technology has advanced unbelievably far and I'm not having a ton of health issues).
Ta!
