Another set of items I've worked upon is a duo of porcelain figures that have been produced for Wonder Festival (I didn't find the specific production date, but probably somewhere around 2005-2008), both of the same character - Wonda-chan, the second event mascot. The sculptor is Kagawa Masahiko, the guy who made
the famous cold cast Sailor Moon figure, which now fares for around $500.
The production of those had one massive flaw - after both figures have been painted, they weren't coated with any kind of lacquer, so the years of laying around in a box took quite a toll on them I had to restore paint on both, then to make certain parts glossy.
Here's the result:
Got the devil Wonda figure from Rakuten (a Japanese online store that sells a lot of awesome, often secondhand stuff). One wing was broken off, so I glued it back and painted it up a little. I really love this figure - the frankencat looks absolutely adorable!
This one I found by accident on Yahoo!Japan auctions and won it purely by luck. It, unlike the second figure, was sprayed with satin lacquer, because by the time I got it, I ran out of matte lacquer completely. Eh, it looks pretty fine, and I might work a little on the devil figure to make it match this one. Ukrainian postal service failed me though - the figure was hanging around in the mail for a whole month, and when it finally arrived, the wing tip was snapped off, and one finger got completely lost - so I had to resculpt a new one from modeling putty and to attach it back, then repaint the hand. Ugh.
Overall, I'm really pleased - never thought I'd get to see those live, much less obtain them! Collectioner's luck, I guess :)
