"It isn't the mind control that hurts. Not even that guy's betrayal, although that does hurt." *gulp* "Koren, servant to the Dragon Emperor, was controlling my mother, the queen. While controlled, she was made to say that I was a failure, better off dying to fuel a spell. From there I ran away from home, and... well, that's another long story."
"Koren died in the war that came, when the Archfied slew his rivals. When the dust settled, I went home... to find Mother, confused. Her first words those of love... and proof that she did not remember what she had done."
*another long pause*
"And what hurt so bad, what still hurts so bad... That was the first I knew. The first clue that she wasn't responsible for her actions. The first time I knew..."
