2. Where were your parents born? Mom: Montréal QC; Dad: Streetsville ON
3. What is the last thing you downloaded onto your computer? A PDF of a grant application
4. What’s your favorite restaurant? Probably Café l’Étranger, because of good memories as well as good food and service.
5. Last time you swam in a pool? A while ago - probably last summer, in Ormstown.
6. Have you ever been in a school play? Yep, Country Hearts, grade 10, was the last one - and then there were a couple of smaller ones in elementary school.
7. How many kids do you want? 2.5±0.5
8. Type of music you dislike most? Presently, I choke on the “ack” in Nickelback.
9. Are you registered to vote? I just show up with ID on the day-of.
10. Do you have a car? No.
11. Have you ever ridden on a moped? No.
12. Ever prank call anybody? No.
13. Ever get a parking ticket? No car. Some guy put a nasty note on my bike for locking it up to a railing one time, though.
14. Would you go bungee jumping or skydiving? Short of being caught in a burning plane, no. Planned... no!
15. Furthest places you ever traveled? London, UK.
16. Do you have a garden? No.
17. What’s the size of your bed? Basically twin, but a little long.
18. Do you really know all the words to your national anthem? If I really put my mind to it... I could sing the portion we always sing, but there’s a second verse that I’d need a crib sheet for.
19. Bath or Shower, morning or night? Shower, whenever there’s a lull in which I feel groaty (which tends to be evening these days).
20. Best movie you’ve seen in the past 4 months? Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind or Dogville.
21. What’s the next movie you want to see? Team America : World Police.
22. Chips or popcorn? Chips - popcorn has those burnt husks of kernels getting caught in my teeth and slashing up my gums.
23. Have you ever broken any hearts? Yes.
24. Premarital sex? Not yet - something to be very careful about, yes. Absolutely wrong, no.
25. Are you a good cook? When I’m not exhausted and eating soup out of the can, yes.
26. Orange or Apple juice? Orange, but not by a huge margin.
27. Who was the last person you went out to dinner with and where did you dine? Villa something-or-other in Charlotte, NC, with a whole gang of us Canadians - Mr. and Mrs. Thiel, Stu, Karen, Amanda, Heather, Yvette, Sam, Jake, one of David’s Aussie colleagues (us Commonwealthers have to stick together out there)... it was tasty but quite pricy. We had it as a recommendation from someone who only did lunch there.
28. Favorite drink? Ginger beer, Blanche de Chambly and Irish whiskey are all very nice.
29. Best thing in the world? Those moments when it all makes sense.
30. Have you ever broken a bone? Nope.
31. Have you ever won a trophy? Yeah, for the Intellectual Olympics back in high school, our team brought the Bob Douglas Shield back two years running.
32. What is your favorite board game? Scrabble.
33. What is your dream car? A forest-green Prius with a bike rack and a trailer hitch.
34. Ever order an article from an infomercial? No.
35. Coke or Pepsi? No real preference.
36. Have you ever had to wear a uniform to work? Nope.
37. Last thing you bought at a pharmacy? Toothpaste and deodorant. I think the deodorant went through the till last.
38. Who are you going to marry? I’ll probably get civilly joined to a wonderful girl someday.
39. Who would you like to meet? See #38 (if I haven’t already), as well as Terry Knight, John McCarthy, Spacefem and some of the Spacefemmites, Richard Dawkins and Phillip Yancey. All at the same time might be a little hard. I don’t think any of the above have any overlap, in case you’re wondering...
40. Do you believe in love at first sight? Only in retrospect.
41. What features do you find most attractive in the opposite sex? Shortness, cuteness, inquisitiveness, and a good sense of humour.
42. Where would you go for a romantic evening? Someplace with grass, wind (not enough to blow away the picnic) and a nice sunset for a picnic.
43. How many pairs of shoes do you own? Three, if you include boots.
44. Last song stuck in your head? Andres, by L7
45. Boxers? Briefs? Boxer-briefs? Thong? None? Other? Boxers usually. Sometimes boxer-briefs.
46. What’s your all time favorite Saturday Night Live Character? I don’t have enough SNL knowledge to answer this.
47. What is one thing you would like to learn to do? Drive.
48. What do you do when you are bored? Read.
49. What is one thing you would want someone to appreciate about you? I think for what’s worth appreciating in me, there’s someone out there that I already know appreciates it... but my compulsive rephrasing of things I’m trying to make sense of could stand to be appreciated by more people.
50. What is one thing you are grateful for today? My family. One cool, accepting, fun bunch of people.
