Complaining on the internet

So. I have this lower division anthro class that I'm taking, though I don't remember why (probably just filler). I've already learned most of what we've covered, which isn't surprising since it's lower division and I've been doing this for five years now - plus the class is mostly made up of freshman, and includes a lot of non-majors. The teacher ( Read more... )

Then today she somehow managed to talk about the marriage and assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand without ever mentioning a connection to WWI. - I didn't think that was possible either XD. im pretty sure your teacher is using some sort of clown trickery in order to talk about the cause of WWI w/o mentioning WWI. but wait...the freshmen had never before heard that ferdinand was assassinated?

i kinda know what you mean, teachers preaching stuff that isn't true. something sort of similar used to happen to me in religion class a lot. teachers would say stuff that always made being a faithful person seem like it was bubblegum and lipgloss and everyone in my class would just eat it up. and i'd think "you know, not everything is a fucking rainbow. being a truly good person isnt an easy thing =/"

lol, i need to get away from school too. i've got 15 days left, i'm like "just END already!"

I'm sure they were taught about the start of the war at some point. It was probably just a few people who gasped, but enough to make me think that it would be a good time for someone - like, say, a teacher - to jog their memory and remind them exactly why Franz Ferdinand's assassination was significant, instead of just leaving it at that. It also would have helped the students to memorize the specific concept she was trying to teacher, but whatevs.

Oh man, I remember mandatory religion classes in high school. I had to take a "spirituality" class during my senior year and I was so not into it. Every class felt like my brain was leaking out my ears.

ohh, it sounded like they had never learned about his assassination before. i dont really know how you could forget that tho, it's something that most people once they learn it seem to remember. but yeah, like you think she would, but she was like "nope"

OMG EXACTLY. they're so AWFUL. this year was the only year that religion didn't make me want to shoot my face off. i took a world religions course for 5 months, which was really cool because i was actually learning something. since then it's been bible studies, which i thought was going to be interesting, but it's really boring XD. at least it doesn't annoy the shit out of me like religion class used to.
