Meta Seven -- Real-Time Broadcast (strikes talking to self)

Aug 06, 2008 11:11

Sounds of firing beam cannons -- the Halberd has all its guns trained on a single point in the sky in a brilliant yellow blast.

All offensive units on deck! Focus fire with the cannons, and stay clear of the mobile arm! Increase antigravity and get us higher! The sky is rippling. There really is a shield there. We'll break that in no time with this kind of firepower. I've done this before. These kids of shields are weak to focused point attack, and that's where most large ships fail. Combinational Cannon active; clear midship and brace for recoil!

Loud hissing and sparking from the barrier, which is rippling and holding strong, though it's bowing backward from the force. It shows no signs of giving in. It shoots a minor blast down, scarring the deck, a warning shot crossing the helm.

We can't let it frighten us away. We need more power. Cannon limiters disengaging; spread your fire and make way. Combo Cannon fire in three -- two -- one --

The midship cannon fire a huge blast at the barrier, which crackles with a sound like shattering glass, shivers, and bends outward with a weird rippling pattern that looks to be getting stronger. More peripheral blasts rain down onto the deck, a sign that the shield is collecting and bouncing back the energy.

Limiters disabled; follow the blast! Split the barrier! Overload it!

Cannons fire behind the Combo blast, and the barrier snaps back with the force of all the energy unloaded into it. A huge sparking billow of a beam slices in and engulfs the front of the ship, shattering the turrets and Combo Cannon, the smaller center blast piercing the hull and killing the antigrav reactor. Metal shards, molten slag, and debris goes flying away and smashing through the air and down into the ground in flames.

We're hit! We can't give up now, not with how close we were. Shunt what's left of the power to antigrav! Get us closer! A physical strike may work. Anyone on deck, get off now.

The Halberd manages to throw itself to the barrier and rams it head-on, where it bends again, crackles, and throws the ship sharply away. The battleship tailspins down toward the ground.

Cannons, engines, nothing. Nothing work -- I can't see -- sails! Deploying sails!

The huge bat-wing sails extend, managing to stabilize the ship enough to control its direction. It falls like a rock out of the sky, barely supported at all without its antigrav, though now it has direction and some guiding, and it spirals down in a quick spin and skid-crashes to a stop in the shallow waters of the ocean. As it impacts, a huge blast comes from the rear of the vessel, vaporizing water in the area, rising in a cloud of flame toward the sky.

(ooc: I'm going on hiatus for a while -- if you post here, which you're welcome to, I may reply today. Everyone, feel free to see the giant spectacle, as that's why I wrote it out. The Halberd is now a dead hulk in the shallow ocean, with Meta trapped inside for a while. If you want to get him out, you of course may offer, though he'll probably just pass out at Your Place with bloody scratches, shrapnel, and burns all over him. Could be fun.)

critical failure, attack the barrier, halberd flight, crash, ego crush
