A belated two-for-one post
1) sollersuk, in response to a fanfic in which someone drove from Germany to the island of Guernsey:
I never cease to be amazed at people who obviously have internet access (how else are they posting this stuff?) who either have never heard of Google Maps or think geography is something that happens to other people.
Open post, QWP. Context sadly does not involve one of those amphibious trucks from Top Gear.
2) maudlinrose, in response to a newly-discovered but disappointing cover of a great song:
One of the things about 'Twist and Shout' in all of the versions I had until tonight heard is its ENERGY...
But the version by the Mamas and the Papas sounds kind of like - well, they thought about twisting and/or shouting, but then they had a few beers and smoked a bowl or two, and now they're lying on beanbags trying to pat the ceiling while a good friend laughs into their hipbone.
And that's a COMPLETELY VALID LIFE CHOICE. But not if you're purporting to want to shake it up, baby.
