..."evil despot tendencies" really shine when one happens to be a fan of decently written villains. o.o I mean--if you're going to go through the pain and effort of forcing stubborn, garrulous sentient life to bend to your own personal satisfaction/moral view, why wouldn't you design a system of doing such that is (mostly) foolproof? Seems pratical to me...
