nakki on flags:

This new flagging feature offends/entertains me. Offends: because it is not my job to parent other people's children and there is no way in hell I'm gonna participate in this ridiculous "tattletaleing". Entertains: because I'm going to use it to flag every new policy Eljay posts that offends me. Starting with this one. I flagged it as offensive :DI ( Read more... )

I flagged it too, as hate speech.

That's probably a good way to deal with this crap, I suggest everyone do it. :)

I don't see this as particularly clever or funny...

Should I flag it?

Am I the only one who isn't chomping at the bit because of this? Yeah, it's not the best plan in the world, but it's better than some of the alternatives. *sigh*

No, you're not.
For half a second, I had thoughts of leaving assorted 2 Girls 1 Cup stills as comments to everyone who yells ZOMG, CENSORSHIP!!!11!!eleventy!1, but I'm really too nice for my own good.

To this day, that vid still haunts me.

I need to invest in some brain bleach and a cornea transplant because I sporked my eyes out.

Don't worry. Once Drama-lovers start using it to get revenge on people and/or get them in trouble, it's gonna become a Boy Who Cried Wolf situation.

I give it 'til February before even 6A doesn't care anymore.

. . . you can only flag five times a day, your account must be open for over a month in order to flag, they pay attention to what you flag (so if you abuse the power, it's taken away), and all flaggings (of which there must be multiple ones) are checked by LJ Abuse. There's not a lot of room to abuse it.

But people are sure as hell gonna try. XD

Not that I'm really bothered by (or interested in) this too much, since I don't think people are just going to stumble across my stuff and go "OH MY GOD I DID NOT THINK EVERYTHING LABELED 'PORN' WAS ABOUT PEOPLE HAVING SEX!" or anything, but it'll be amusing (to me, anyway) when people try to abuse it. And they will. They will get hordes of friends together and all flag things as inappropriate. Or some pseudo-BNF will issue a "call to duty" to label some OMGHATER/YAOI FAN/HET FAN/CULT OF MEAN PERSONS/BITCH as offensive.

It will be glorious!

. . . yes, and it'll be reviewed by LJ abuse and deemed Not Offensive, therefore making their attempt futile.

She does know that if someone is noticed inappropriately flagging things as inappropriate, their future flags are ignored, right?

Yes I do, and I also decided that since all I'm gonna do is flag official posts, it really doesn't matter to me if my flags are ignored.

Carry on, then!

I don't know that I'll flag anything myself, unless I run into something that really doesn't belong on the internet at all. I don't care if someone leaves their fic in sight of curious teenage eyes. I do have a problem with spoilsports with shock graphics.

Ditto this. I just hate that I have to go turn all these settings on so I can get away from the stupid autocollapsing feature.
