lunacy

A GENETICIST HAS SAID THAT PEOPLE TODAY ARE GETTING DUMBER
AND DUMBER BUT I THINK IT'S FAR WORSE THAT THAT
Based on what people say and do, that is.

I have always been an observer ... I watch ... I listen ... I take it all in as best I can - trying not to judge the motives of the subject although that becomes pretty transparent.

Except in the case of the actual lunatic, of course, for "motive" becomes an unnecessary concern.

In the media, in the entertainment field, in politics, even and especially in academia and science there are lunacy and lunatics abounding - or deceivers.

There was a time when you saw an occasional individual walking the streets having strange conversations with himself or herself or you heard or read about a person, real or imagined, who ranted and raved in the seclusion of their homes unknown except to anyone who might be there or live nearby.

Apparently these people have reproduced like rabbits and now inhabit this world in large numbers.

In fact, as I have always engaged strangers in bits of pleasant conversation when out I now feel as though I should give the ones who seem "normal" a present or award of some kind. I feel SO grateful and encouraged.

Now that I think about it, perhaps in engaging me they are thinking the same thing.

I have different theories about why this is but I believe it started around the time people stopped walking to the library to read and began drinking Coca Cola from metal cans.

But these lunatics ... the ones who are now not simply walking alone down the streets - the ones who now have multitudes of people like them around to "converse" with ... what about them?

I suppose since they are mostly in charge now ... have control over the rest of us it does not matter.

Anf think about it. What if some suspects he or she is a lunatic - who do you see for "help"?

It's just trying to stay out of their way and keeping their lunacy out of our heads. Because almost nothing they can offer has any link to reality and it's too painful to pretend you're crazy too. To me up is not down, black is not white, good is not bad, there is such a thing as truth, facts can be verified, I abhor "spin" zones and "mum" (despite what Shakespeare wrote and popularized) is definitely NOT the word.

Make sense?

It doesn't? Oh, oh ... Houston - we have a problem.
