I'VE BEEN IN SUCH A FUN MOOD SINCE THE ELECTION

After making fun of Nancy Reagan (Nancy didn't conduct seances but Hillary Clinton did say she had "conversations" with Eleanor Roosevelt) and some insipid questions ( Read more... )

Well, you do have a point.

The Obama supporters fall into different categories, however.

There are the hardcore ideologues who will remain steadfast no matter what happens. I talk to them all the time and NOTHING I have said over the past year I've been writing about the campaign bothers them (except that they say I'm biased and a cherry-picker, etc.). *lol*

There are the people who voted for Obama simply because they think they're getting something, Because they hated or blamed Bush for everything wrong in the world, because Obama sounds like he knows what to do, because he is young and nice-looking.

Most of these people have to real awareness of what's going on in the world and if they don't get their freebies, if we don't bring the troops home, if we're humiliated on the world stage, yes, they'll wake up slowly.

The problem is, IMHO, they are influenced by what happens in their personal lives, and whatever they see or hear in the headline news.

I have said that I think network news viewers and newspapers subscribers will continue to drop and editors will be compelled to go after Obama, when he departs from his promises, to lure their audience back.

I've already taken an oath to stop watching the news and news shows on ABC, CBS, NBC, PBS, etc.

I find I'm sleeping better not having to get so frustrated hearing their biased spin.

And yes! it is very creepy. But like I said in another comment, read The True Believer. Hoffer was the son of German-Jewish immigrants and, although basically blue collar and self-educated, is one of our greatest social/political philosophers.

One page of Hoffer has more insight and wisdom than most chapters of any books you might read.
