"You aren't joining the festivities?"

The sudden low voice caused Rikku to jump slightly, but she wasn't surprised to hear it. After all, Paine never knew Tidus.

"I just don't feel good is all," the blonde replied, wrapping her arms around her torso. She didn't turn around to face her teammate.

"Oh, yes. I know when I feel sick I hang around in the engine room at night instead of going to bed."

Rikku let a sigh escape her lips before she turned around. Her eyes were red and puffy, but her clear cheeks showed that she had yet to cry. Paine shifted slightly, her brows furrowing in as much concern as she was capable of.

"I didn't say I was sick. I said I didn't feel good. There's a difference," she insisted, refusing to break eye contact.

The reversal of usual roles felt odd to the warrior. Was she annoying Rikku by talking to her? Was that even possible?

"I guess I'll leave you alone then."

Paine jerked her head, breaking the eye contact suddenly, and began to walk to the lift.

Something about the violent disconnection tore at Rikku, and she gave a tear-strangled cry. "Fyed! ...Bmayca. E's cunno. Tuh'd ku."

That was enough to turn Paine around. The theif never spoke Al Bhed to her; she figured everyone had forgotten she could even speak it herself. Maybe Rikku didn't even remember she knew the language, or perhaps she didn't realize she hadn't been speaking the common tongue. Before any questions could be asked, she spoke again.

"It's like her sheer willpower brought him back. She loves him so much. She... I don't think she'd care so much if something happened to me. If I just disappeared. I thought I didn't care about that anymore. I thought I was over it." Rikku bit her lip, not trying to hold back the tears anymore.

Paine wasn't quite sure what to think. Was Rikku in love with Yuna? A reply came as soon as she thought the question.

"I know I don't have feelings for her. Not anymore. But if something happens to me, will she search all of Spira like she did for him? Or will I just disappear without anyone caring?" A full-out sob escaped the blonde's small frame, and Paine stepped closer. She put one hand on Rikku's shoulder while the other lifted her chin, bringing the eye contact back.

"I will search all of Spira for you, so vyjuneda dreav."

Al Bhed Translations

"Fyed! ...Bmayca. E's cunno. Tuh'd ku."
"Wait! ...Please. I'm sorry. Don't go."

"...so vyjuneda dreav."
"...my favorite thief."

Title: Sunbathing
Prompt: #152 - Sun (femslash100)
Fandom: Final Fantasy X-2
Pairing: Rikku/Paine
Rating: PG
Word Count: 100

"But you need some color!" Rikku seems to be trying not to whine, but is anyway. The pout in her lips doesn't help her case either.

"I am not going sunbathing with you. The end."

Paine watches the Al Bhed with calm eyes, contrasting the swirl of playful emotion in her teammate's.

"What if I gave you the real reason?" she asks, flashing a guilty smile.

"Fine, I'll bite. What's the real reason?"

"I want to see you in that bikini again." Her smile turns into a full grin.

Paine, not ever having thought Rikku swung that way, caves with a naughty grin of her own.

Title: Light in the Dark
Prompt: #152 - Sun (femslash100)
Fandom: Avatar: the Last Airbender
Pairing: Mai/Ty Lee
Rating: PG
Warning: MAY SPOIL FOR THE BOILING ROCK.
Word Count: 200

Despite being imprisoned, Ty Lee is still a ray of sunshine. You suppose that's a good thing; you certainly need it. This would all be more miserable without her here with you.

You can only see her when you're allowed out in the yard, and then she'll bound up to you and wrap her arms around your waist without fail. The guards always shout, but that doesn't stop her. Her joy seems to seep into you, and you think that's what keeps your hopes up during the long, dreary nights.

The two of you keep physical distance but talk in hushed, intimate tones. "You mean more to me than Azula ever did," she tells you, and brushes her hand over yours when nobody is looking. "Thank you," you admit, and out of the corner of your eye you can see hers light up with the sun she gives to you. You feel bad that it's the best you can do, but you know she understands what you mean.

You can only hope the Avatar will defeat Ozai soon so you can get out of here. You place no hope in a future with Zuko anymore; it's clear who will always stick by you.
