I tend to take a darker look at Sirius when I evaluate him as a character...He's just completely messed up from Azkaban, but I don't know, perhaps he's become so good at hiding his true emotions from all his time spent there that you never really understand it. I think the scene in the Shrieking Shack in PoA and the dinner scene in OotP show a bit of his character, but there's so much under the surface. It's just interesting to think that Remus probably wanted nothing more all those years before PoA than to have his friends back, and here Sirius is, and he's just so different.
I imagine that the pressure of the friendship with Sirius influences his relationship with Tonks such as at the end, when he feels he has to leave her to deal with Sirius.
I'm glad you liked their interaction too...I hoped as I was writing it that it didn't go too quickly, and I'm glad you didn't think so. Initially I was going to have something like Tonks moving seat by seat closer to Remus, but it didn't fit in writing, so I just had her clamber on over to him and say what she's thinking. I like her character a lot, especially that almost innocent perception she understands him with.
Oh, and I apologize for not responding sooner...I went on vacation and didn't get back to the internet until today. Thank you again for the kind review!
